I downloaded the demo for OSX but it only seems to install the AU version, is this right?

Sounds about right for demo: "Mac OS X AU Demo version".

The full version in the service download area says:

DUNE 1.4 (Mac OS X)
This is the full version of Dune v1.4 (Audio Unit and VST plugin, both 32- and 64-bit editions). The 64-bit editions require a host such as Logic 9 or Cubase 6 to function. Click on the DUNE logo to see whether you're currently running the 32- or 64-bit version.
