Hi! Very nice! Briefly about few issues.
Choosing factory preset in host window and in preset manager in Hydra's low right corner often doesn't match
I can choose 1 preset in Hydra and then another in host and in Hydra will be still the same but the preset itself often changes
In preset Another Lead in Amp Envelope attack has a value about 20 ms but initially showes about 40 ms
The same thing with Decay in Filter Envelope.
While trying to automate Pitch Up ( the most left knob in Pitch Up section ) actually the same knob in Pitch Down section is being automated.
And there are no numbers while moving autamation dots ( points ) so it's impossible to set up correct value
Is it possible to move keyboard left/right to access highest/lowest octaves?
Why is it said in manual that oscilator coarse have a range +/- 4 octaves while the knob has range +/- 12 semitones?
Thank you in advance. Sasha

Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hi Sasha, welcome to the forums.
I'm afraid we don't have many Mac users here, and especially those who use Garageband. Synapse Audio's plugins are largely tested using Orion, Live, Cubase, Reaper, FL and such, so it is possible it's untested under that host.
Not sure what you mean by this. AmpEnv ATK here also shows about 40ms. FilterEnv ATK, on the other hand shows 23.68. How did you determined it has 20ms?
That works properly here, I'm afraid.
Possibly an error in the manual. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hi! Thank you for your answer.
I determined that it was 20 ms by turning knob a little and then setting 40ms again and it was another position
It worked the way I described but I can't check it now but I chose a parameter named approximately PitchUpAmt, tryed to automate it. While I was moving automation point I could see no current value of automation point so I was curious to find out what the value I set. And then I saw that value of Pitch Down Amount was changed and value of Pitch Up Amount knob didn't. Are there any other presets for Hydra and how to set them up. Is it possible to move octaves on keyboard to access higher/lower notes. Sasha.
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hi! Why don't you reply? Sasha
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Sorry, life gets in a way and all that.
Can't really tell you about AmpEnv and FilEnv parameters, maybe that's a bug. I see that same thing happening here in Orion, so it possibly needs to be investigated. On the other hand, values might not be of that much importance. As for the pitch... I'm not sure I can test that. Orion only has Pitch modifier and it works both ways - up and down, with 0 in the middle - and it moves the Pitch Wheel. I don't see a Pitch Up/Down Amount knobs on Hydra, so I'm guessing that's something specific to Garageband. I'm not really sure I see the benefit for two separate controls for what is essentially one parameter.
If you mean presets packs from 3rd party sound designers, I know ProSounds had them on sale a while back - their website seems to not functioning, so can't check if they still have them on sale. But essentially, you just need to open up the presets folder for Hydra and paste/move .fxp/.fxb file(s) in it. Then you can just load them up the same way. For opening external presets in Garageband, consult the Garageband's manual.
On Hydra's interface, no. It's fixed to 4 octaves, starting from C1. Orion has octaves change functions (F2-F8) to change the range of octaves, but this doesn't translate to the Hydra's keyboard - it just functions if you use your PC keyboard (or maybe even a MIDI controller). So, see if Garageband has a similar function. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11I think that values are important because if I want to set a value 20 ms and can't see numbers while drawing automation line I need to open up synthesizer to see what value I've set on and on.
I talk about automation of the Amount knob in Pitch Up section in Modulation area just under the LFO and above Chorus and Bass FX I choose to automate a parameter UP-Amt and this knob is not being automated but another knob is being automated - the knob Amount in Pitch Down section - the knob just below the knob I wanted to automate. I found presets, thanx. But this preset bank replace the default bank and I don't know where does Hydra store its own preset bank to load it back. Also GarageBand can't load presets bank but MuLab can. Also GarageBand save preset with extension ".aupreset" so they can be loaded only in GarageBand ( and maybe Logic - I have no Logic ). How to make my own .fxb? Are you going to make an update to Hydra or make Hydra 2 ( like Dune 2 )? Sasha
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hydra doesn't come with its own build in preset browser, so it uses whatever the host provides.
We haven't decided yet if we do Hydra 2, but if yes then it'll be a rather huge update, most likely a completely new synthesizer (like Dune 1->2). Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hi! Thanx for your answer.
I didn't understand where Hyrda keep its own preset bank ( to replace back the external preset bank without restart Hydra or even host )? What about automation - is it a bug or I'm doing something wrong? What about an absense of numbers while drawing automation curve in GarageBand - is it a bug or an incompatibility? Also have you get the idea about preset "Another Lead": You put the pointer on the knob Amp Env ATK in "Envelopes" section and you see 44.04 ms, then you click mouse and holding it move it a LITTLE bit down and you see 19.02 ms and if you return this knob to previous position ( move it a LITTLE bit up ) you will see 19.72 ms instead of 44.04 ms The same thing happens with Filter Env DEC knob in the same "Envelopes" section ( where it initially shows 1.80 s ). And the last - as I understand it right to make preset bank I need to use host means. So I make a few .fxp and somehow compose an .fxb by external means ( maybe it will be the host-program maybe an other program ). Is it right? Sasha
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hi! Why don't you reply? Sasha
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11
It's internal. To load the default presets, Hydra needs to reinitialize itself - which usually means reloading the instrument.
Quite possibly an incompatibility. Different plugins might report values differently to the different hosts.
Well, if it makes it any better, consider it a bug that got away with it that who knows if it will ever get fixed. Sorry, but unless devs decide to look into it, we can't help you with it. A solution might be a bit of "trial and error" approach. I know, it's dreadful advice, but might just get you through to complete what you're working on. Take a look at the initial position of the knob, give it an approximate percentage (or a position on a 0-10 scale, 5 being the middle) and draw automation according to that. Then listen and edit as needed. This might need some time to get used to. But making music isn't really an exact science to dabble with numbers, as long as it sounds good.
It would be better if you could write the entire bank right out of GB. What happens if you convert (join) presets into a bank and GB won't load it? I guess you'll need to figure out what formats GB saves and opens and go from there. A manual or a GB forum somewhere might be better to start looking.
Because you're looking at a very small percentage of Mac users here, and even smaller one that use Garageband. And devs aren't here 24/7. They have lives and families, little kids, regular jobs, and so on. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hi! Didn't thought to offend you. I deemed that developers and support team are the same guys. So "simply ask and receive an answer". Sorry if anything.
And maybe last question: "devs" mean "developers"? Sasha
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11
yes, "devs" mean "developers" don't hesitate to ask question, we are here to help Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11
Nah, no need to apologize. The support and developers are the same, but the whole team is just 2 guys. The rest of us jump in and try to help out when we can. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11OK. Thanx. Wish you ( all 2 guys ) good luck. And wait for Hydra 2. Sasha.
Re: hydra issues and questions in garageband '11Hydra crashes Garageband 6.0.5 ( 2011 ) 3 times in a row. Crash report in attachment. Worked fine before. Help. Sasha
