Hi,
Is it possible to add custom waveforms or wavetables to DUNE 2?
How are the .wt files made? If there is not a tool available yet maybe you can explain the format?
Thanks!
Martin

Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetablesThere is a tool available on the beta forum but I don't know if there are any plans to release it....don't know why they wouldn't as it can only make DUNE 2 stronger......
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetablesThe wavetable tool is still under development and in beta stage, however it will be released for sure.
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetablesThat's great news. Will there be new betas at the forum ? I'm ready to test. Are there any plans on making a tool that will allow us to draw waveforms of the exact size needed ? That would be really cool.
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetablesHow we can get access to the beta forum?
The tool sounds really interesting...
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
Thats great news. Looking forward to it!
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
You need to be a beta tester for that. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
You can try Audio-Term. This tool was made for Terratec Komplexer, but also exports wavetables for Dune 2 (and further products with wavetable synthesis). Audio-Term download link: http://dl.dropbox.com/s/1y0d88ts8zy1um7/Audio-Term.zip Here are some example WTs made with Audio-Term: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/w0qe5q5r175elc ... tables.zip There's no manual, but I wrote a short explanation of AT here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 0#p5739767 . There's also a special thread for on KVR: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... &start=255
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetablesAnd how do I become a Beta-Tester?
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
Well, you need to be distinctive in some way and have certain traits. First of all, you need to know the thing you're testing REALLY well. It's impossible to expect to know every little detail, that's why there are many beta-testers so if one misses something, others can find it... but knowing a good portion of the software is desirable. You can't test something if you don't know how to use it in the first place. This also includes (and correlates to) troubleshooting and testing for other people on things they find as well. A beta-tester will try to help other people solve their problems, if they can. And if not, they will file detailed reports for developers to solve. Second, and this is also important, you need to be expressive. You need to be able to find, test, troubleshoot and report problems. Initially, it starts with finding a bug, then trying to reproduce it for consistency, then move to an attempt to solve it yourself. When you've done all that, then you write a very detailed post about your findings for developers, so being able to express with words (and images/videos/audio, if needed) is important. So, these two are really important, but they don't come easily. You need to be active member of the community here, helpful, polite (for the most part ) and you'd need to prove that you know what you're doing by doing all those things. Finding bugs, reporting, helping others, having really good and thought-through ideas for new features (no one likes ideas for the sake of ideas - they need to mean something), being analytical, and engaging in constructive conversations (expanding and refining ideas as they evolve) will definitely get you noticed. Also, other traits would benefit that... things like good sound or graphic design or some other skills which you can use to contribute to development. We have many members in the beta team that have contributed - Bones with graphics over many years, Krim with both graphic and sound designs, Tek is an excellent bug-exterminator (:D) and sound designer, Mark has contributed a lot with both patch designing and wavetables for DUNE 2, and the rest of us try to get in there with smaller things that might help (I myself and several others have been working on skins conversions for Orion), Suneel developed a software for skinning and have found/reported a great deal of bugs... and so on. You get the idea. If you're a Mac user, that might get you on top of the list, since that seems to be on a short supply for testing instruments and effects. Or using a DAW that not many people use, but still have it's fair share of userbase to be considerable. Since Synapse started developing effects and instruments for Reason, we got quite a few of RE testers for it, so that's another thing. I guess another thing that's considerable is how well you get on with other members. But generally, there are ways that would get you in the beta team, it just takes a lot of time and work. Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
Really? Who knows a new product that hasnt been released and is in beta?
doesnt sound like our beta team
You either keep asking, or you get asked. Then you join the beta forum, download the software and disappear Last edited by Kriminal on Fri May 09, 2014 5:11 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
That happens a lot
Re: DUNE 2 custom wavetables
Errrmmmm... ok, so much for my ability to express myself Then let's revise that... You need to be able to LEARN new software really fast, really well. Sound better?
Well, maybe, for the most part, but that's how it should be. Constructive conversations, inventing and expanding ideas, etc. You know what I mean.
Yeah, that did happen alot. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
