Yup. Same. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too smallI had my hands full just for the ones that came with the demo. In fact I don't think I even played with them all in depth. It's quite easy to make some really nice sounds with it. Just a brilliant synth really. I saved some presets with the demo, would I be able to open them in full version?
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too smallIsn't that one limitation of a demo version, to not be able to save/load patches?

Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too smallloading saved presets in demo, no, but extra incentive to get full version that loads saved presets from demo, yes
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too smallBecause if you want to be considered any sort of musician, learning your tools of trade is as important as anything. i.e. Every half-decent musician will also be a good sound designer. If you are not, then you can't really consider yourself a musician, you are more like an "operator".[/quote]
I understand you. You mean that if somebody plays on a piano, guitar or any solo instrument, he/she just an operator, not a musician. Please calm down, because I think I didn't hurt you or any other sound designer or musician. I just wrote my view, because I make a mistake. (My problem solved.) You don't know me and my technic, so please don't judge me. I think we use sounds to express ourself, our emotions. I think music is a miracle, so I don't care how do you create it. I just want to feel the emotions in music. (I use Antidote. I love it! Synapse audio is a great company.) All the best!
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too small
you can make a variety of sounds on any instruments, using various techniques, once you learn how. Of course, you cant make a trumpet sound, or etheral pad on a piano, but its not designed for that.... Nothing wrong with being a preset player, but it makes much more sense to use your time to learn synthesis and make you own sounds, its much quicker in the long run. Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too smallpresets can be a good starting of point as well, i usually tweak them so it barely resembles the original patch. Also I don't think anything is wrong working with presets only, think about all the kontakt libraries with keys, strings, etc. Same with drumloops use them if they sound good but usually its easier to program from scratch cause its easier to fit in the mix better. Anywho try not to take things to personally on this forum
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too smallWhat's wrong with both ? Use a preset from someone like Krim or Mark or Rob if you find it musically inspiring and also create your own...........
I don't find any "shame" in using a preset any more than I would be ashamed to play in a band where everyone has creative input. Of course some presets can get way over used.......D-50 Native Dance.....DX7 Tine Piano....Anything Hoover.......
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too small
Different tools, different skills. A synth player who can't make his own sounds from scratch is like a guitar player who can't tune his own strings, a pianist who can't use the pedals or an oboist who can't sight-read music. These are all things I couldn't do but I can sure as shit program sounds into my own synths because it is the most basic skill for my chosen instrument.

Oh my God....they are the most annoying sound since my ex wife's voice..............
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too small
Depends on the kind of music you are producing. Not every genre of electronic music is based on creative, individual synth sounds, sometimes more traditional music skills (harmony etc.) are more important. Despite of that, there are many other ways to make a track innovative and interesting then pure sound design. I think, that a person who exclusively uses presets can be still be a good musician!
Re: Dune 2 factory soundbank is too small
Completely agree, at the end of the day its the quality of the song that counts, we all have access to same materials.
