Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2The FM thing. Is it possible to have the voices modulate (FM) each other. So voice 2 modulates voice 1, which would be done via the mod matrix....i can already see the problems piling up...
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2Unfortunately not, but as you say there would probably be several problems with this.
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2Is 2.5 a final version of DUNE 2? Any further features for the future?
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2I was thinking about this earlier. I'd almost rather see a whole new instrument from Synapse than have incremental updates to DUNE. A built in Wavetable Creator doesn't really excite me too much but I know it's a popular feature in another synth.
The two features that I would really like to see in D2 are apparently not possible due to the current architecture so a whole new from the ground up instrument would get my adrenaline pumping........... Of course it doesn't matter one bit what I want or think but if someone gave me the vote.....1. More work on DUNE or 2. A new synth I think I would have to vote new synth........
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2Ooh yeah, like a 4oscillator multi part ULTRAN with mod matrix and 57.3 filer types that can be run in series or parallel.
Love to blend those soundfontillators! Peace, luv and aciiid. ---=u f o=--- /Radiation Mutant / Snee-Nee-Iq
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2Or something more modern like an .sfz oscillator combined with the Dual Unison Engine with 8 completely separate layers (separate Arp for each Layer, separate FX for each layer etc).
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 28 layers is too much. I still havent seen a single preset that used all 8 layers. 4 is enough really. If Zampler and Orions Sampler was combined with Dune2's features, that would be a cool synth, but really, that would just be a rompler, and there are lots of those around.
I'd like to see a new synth, something that isnt a VA/Subtractive. Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2
Then why did Synapse see fit to add 8 layers to DUNE 2 ? Think outside the box. With 8 layers, .sfz support, and each layer with it's own Arp/Step Sequencer you'd not only have a cool synth but a capable Drum Machine as well........
There are lots of those around. Last edited by Teksonik on Wed Jan 06, 2016 7:42 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Ask them
Such as? i didnt even give any examples, so how do you know what im talking about? Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2
See my edit above..........
Because there are lots of every kind of synth around already. When you say "new synth" you really mean a new synthesis type, good luck with that. At this point you're pretty much left with reinventing the wheel..... but the idea is to make a better wheel than your competition.......
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2
Thats not really a good workflow...when would you have 8 ARP's playing at once? When would you have 8 synths playing the same notes at once? I like to layer sounds for pads etc, but not 8. As for drums, ive got that covered in more ways than i can count. Its a decent enough idea (im sure i said so myself when D2 was being made) but there are already a few 8 voice (or more) drum synths around with much better seq's built in. no, i mean new to Synapse. All their stuff is Subtractive, save a few bits botched on like FM here and there. Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2
Good work flow for who ? You or everyone else ? You're starting to sound like BONES junior.......... I use multiple Arps on LuSH101 all the time. They don't all play the same notes or have the same time signature...... Anyway no use restricting anything to 4 when 8 is possible......room to expand. There may not be many D2 patches (released) that use all 8 layers but there are certainly some that use more than 4.
I've got drums covered too but a complex synth that's also a drum synth would be welcome here. Good luck having much success with a simple synth nowadays. I doubt it would generate much interest at all...except in Sydney........
Yes a complex .sfz/sample based synth would be new to Synapse (Zampler is not complex and is free). So exactly what kind of synth do you think would be a financial success for Synapse ? Synapse could of course just keep working on DUNE hoping that each update adds enough to bring in new customers but I think there is a point of diminishing returns.......
Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2From my point of view, i dont see a place for do all/be all synth. I prefer simpler more specialised stuff. I also dont see much point in 8 layers, i prefer to layer 2 or 3 diff synths to get the sounds.
Obviously all my points are 'imo'... obviously. I also dont have a prob with anyone releasing a synth with 32 layers.... some ppl will buy anything if they are told they need it. As for finacially viable...who knows. Sometimes the simplest/best ideas go straight over ppls heads. Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Would love to see these in Dune 2Here's a question. If Dune had one layer, would you still buy it?
You could do everything you can in D2 just by loading multiple instances and copying midi. Timewise, it would prob take the same. Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM
