Hi! I have two OSCs and want the second to shutdown after hitting a key. MSEG 1 is routed to the OSC 2 volume, and has a short envelope just going from 100% to 0% within a second.
But when I play the key, the sound never goes to zero. Not even when I put OSC 2 on 5% basic volume and use it then, there is still sound left. I know that I could solve this with unison voices and edit the single voice via the amp envelope, but shouldn't it be possible with the mseg too?

Re: MSEG possible range?Hmmmm I see what you mean. Even at -100 the MSEG doesn't shut Osc 2 all the way down and I think that has to do with the Amp Env. Try MSEG to AMP Sustain -100 but then as you say you'll have to use another unison voice to do whatever Osc 1 was doing. Wait I think I've got it....Set Osc 2 Vol in the Mixer to zero then adjust using the Amp Sustain. That will shut it all the way off. I also used a MSEG env that takes up the whole grid and then adjusted it's time to be faster...........
Re: MSEG possible range?Ahh all right! The MSEG is taking the volume from zero up, and then instantly brings it back down so that I just hear the attack transient.
But why does that MSEG not take it down when it is on let's say 40% volume? In the MSEG on the left side while putting up the envelope it shows percent as value. The top is 100 and the bottom is 0. So when I have an envelope which does -100%, I would expect it to modulate any routed destinaton to -100% or until its bottom end. May I btw ask where you've got your good looking Dune II skin? Is there a thread with a collection or something? My soundbank "Dark Cyberpunk" for Dune 2 with 40 patches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEVGqIAQ2rU
Re: MSEG possible range?I think it comes down to assigning an MSEG doesn't bypass the Amp Env. I posted these back in 2011:
I never really got a response so unless I'm doing something wrong it still appears that MSEG's can not override the Amp Env....... About the skin it's something I cobbled together using bits from other skins. I asked permission to release it but one of the artists who created some of the bits didn't seem too keen on the idea so I've just kept it to myself out of respect. You can find a nice free skin here: http://www.satyatunes.com/web/dune-2.php He's got a few more that just cost a few dollars...........
Re: MSEG possible range?Problem is not understand how Dune is working.
If you want Osc2 go from 40% to 0% you must set up Osc2 to volume zero and set up MSEG start on 40%, end point on 0% and ModMatrix on 100 or MSEG start point on 100% and modmatrix on 40. You get effect you want. MSGE is working that: if you set up some parameter, for example to 30% and you add in mod materix MSEG to 20 (and MSEG start point will be 100%), it only add +20%. If you set up 100, it add +100% and it will be going 130% and everthing is zero in MSEG it will be original value, in this case 30% on modulated parameter. Another problem can be, if you have osc2 on zero volume and your MSEG ending not on 0% but 1 or more %. It can be set for mistake, then you can hear voice if you have 2 or more % and you have osc2 on zero volume. With MSEG and AMP. It working that way: It is looks like ADSR can not be turned off. It is still on and you can modulate it by MSEG partially - exept release, because if you release note, ADSR is still working and if you add Release 100% and MSEG end point will be 100% after some while sound is fade of. And if Release will be 100% and be MSEG will be control Amp for second, sound will be play still after release, you can see it on voices indicator. EDIT: From Teksonik picture, it is set up as I describe it.
