I fell in love with the sound of Dune 2, and I have a few question before making the purchase:
- First, is there some information on the format used to store the wavetables? I know that an editor is planned for Dune 3, but in the mean time, since I am a dev, I'd like to write some (simple command line, no GUI) tool to create my own tables. I'm aware of Audio-Term, but its additive approach does not suit what I have in mind. Since AT is capable of exporting Dune 2 wavetables, does that mean the format is documented somewhere? I could not find anything in the forum, so maybe it's only available to beta-testers?
I managed to open some factory wavetables as 16 bit PCM, and they seem to have 2048 samples per cycle, with 24 versions of the table for multisampling (half-octave spacing, I guess?). But others refuse to open that way (e.g. "Clipazoid", "Vintage Saw"). Also I'm curious about the "Transients" table, which probably use a different format, since it's more short samples than single-cycle waveforms...
- I seem to remember Dune 2 was on sale last year during december... Is it possible to know if one is planned this year too? I'd hate to buy it just a few days before a sale...
