I need some help on this one. I've been trying sporadically for awhile to figure out how to get a voice to trigger in Dune 2 using only the MSEG Note Off.
For example... let's say on Voice 1 I have an FM Keys sound & on Voice 2 I want to emulate the sound of the hammer noise of a piano. How would I route that? What I've tried so far is in Voice 2 is turning down the Amplitude envelope level, assigned the MSEG to Osc Mixer Volume @ 100. I tried this and don't get any sound. Of course if I turn the Amplitude Envelope level up, the sound comes back, but I don't want to use that envelope. I want to trigger it by using the MSEG.

Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGLike sucks if you blow chunks
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGI'm not proficient enough with D2 to figure out how to do something like that, so I'm really not of any help.

Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGOh well I just gave it my best shot and I can't get anything to trigger with MSEG Note Off but I was only using the on GUI keyboard. Maybe I'll try with my midi controller next but it shouldn't make a difference. Guess we'll have to see what Richard says........
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGThanks Teksonic & Hypnagogia
I didn't think this was something that a lot of people took advantage of, but it was something I seen and just start thinking... hmmm... maybe I could get the note off of the MSEG to activate a voice vs using the amp envelope. Sorta like a sampler (like note off triggers nuances of an acoustic sound)... but in a synth. Rich, if you can chime in and say exactly how he Note off in the MSEG should be used (or if it is working properly) that would be great. Like sucks if you blow chunks
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGHey mate
Are you trying to get your second sound to trigger when you release a key? I cannot get any triggering with note off, perhaps it is not working correctly. Further to the routing, setup amp env to mixer volume for voice 1 and then Setup mseg1 to amp level for voice 2. (This of course is only working for note on or key on) Peace luv and aciiid ---=u f o=--- /Radiation Mutant / Snee-Nee-Iq
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGIs this something that would even be doable? Are there other synths out there that can do that?
It just doesn't make sense to me; how can you get a sound from what is essentially a stop command? SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGI have no problem to use MSEG off.
So you mean you want something like a "release sample" However, if you use MSEG off you need to have a long enough release phase to hear the effect. Maybe i just understand it wrong (sometimes i have still trouble with english). Edit: I also have no problem to use the MSEG off to modulate the Amplitude amount from voice 2. So it should be no problem what you want to do.
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGHere is an example patch for this. I just quickly modified one of my custom patches for it.
It´s a organ like attack with a simple "klick" as release then. If that is what you want? Here is the patch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g867ds641uah4 ... k.fxp?dl=0
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGHey that works ! I swear I tried every combination yesterday and could not get the right one.
I never even thought of using Note Off in the MSEG before but this opens up a lot of possibilities. Here's a real quick edit of your patch with a Voice (Saw) at Note On and another at Note Off (Saw again). You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGI see what I did wrong. I was using MSEG --->Osc Volume instead of Amp Level. I think the MSEG Env makes the difference as well. I was trying different MSEG ADSR values even inverted the Env.
Thanks for the Lesson ! Here's another quick patch from INIT using your MSEG Env: You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGFirst i also was searching how to use it, then i remembered i did a few of those "emulation" patches (which i lost for a while....or better said deleted ).
I doesn´t use Dune 2 much these days because i get to many new stuff (i must stop that GAS) but it reminded me to create some new fresh patches again. Still hope for a wavetable editor in version 3(?). I thought Avenger will do it for me but i sold it again since it wasn´t usable on my set-up. Off topic...uhh. However, i think it was what the OP wanted i think.
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGYes if I understand correctly what you posted is exactly what the OP wants.
Re: Dune 2: Note Off in MSEGHeyyyy... Thanks Cinebient!!! That's exactly what I was trying to accomplish!
I was doing the same thing as Teksonik... using the MSEG to control the osc volume vs Amp Level. I knew somebody here was a genius! Like sucks if you blow chunks
