Hello all,
Installed the full version of Dune this morning and Ableton Live Suite 8.2.2 doesn't recognize it.
Here's what I did:
Uninstalled the demo using Dune's uninstaller
Ran a registry cleaner
Installed the full version of Dune
Put a shortcut to Dune's dll in my Ableton vst folder (I also tried to put a copy of the actual dll in Ableton's vst folder as well - no go)
A new vst with no name shows up in Live. I get an error if I try to load this no name vst.
The full version of Dune loads just fine into Sonar 8.5.3.282. No problems. I've been using the Dune demo **in Live** on this same computer for months now without incident.
**Further troubleshooting
Uninstalled again, did a manual registry clean of all dune entries
Downloaded fresh copy of installer
Reinstalled
No joy
Spex:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
2.3 GHz, 2 GB RAM
Windows XP Home, Service Pack 3
I also have Ableton Live 8.2.2 running on a laptop running Vista. The full version of Dune installed fine on that computer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Dune doesn't show up in Ableton LiveIs the VstPlugins folder configured correctly? Did you install the 32-bit version? Seems to be either a directory problem or you accidentally installed the 64-bit version. The only other explanation would be that the combination Live 8 / XP / Dune is troublesome, but I see no technical reason why this would be the case.

Re: Dune doesn't show up in Ableton LiveThanks folks.
Richard, I'm not sure I get your question about whether the vstplugins folder is configured correctly. Do you mean in my sequencer? If so, the answer is yes. I've two sequencers (Live 8 and Sonar 8.5) running stably on this DAW for more than a year. Both sequencers access the same plugin directory which contains dozens of plugins. All plugins except Dune are working properly. Indeed, the Dune demo worked great for a couple of months before I uninstalled it and installed the full version. One thing that's somewhat unique is that in Live, I access vst plugins via windows shortcuts. In case you're wondering, this is a legit technique (see p 225 of the Live manual ) that works for all my many plugins including the Dune demo. As I said above - Dune works fine in Sonar 8.5 on the same DAW accessing the same plugin folder. Yes I installed the 32 bit version Ableton tech support is also looking into this. Unfortunately, the only other thing I can think to do is to uninstall and then reinstall Live. But that seems a little severe.
Re: Dune doesn't show up in Ableton LiveFinally got this to go.
The thing that seemed to make the difference was to install Dune into the root vstplugins directory rather than a subfolder.
