Hi,
New to the forum. Looking at getting Dune and installed the demo both 32 and 64 bit. I'm running Win 7 64 bit platform.
After installation I start my DAW, (Studio One 2) and Dune shows up but other Vsti's do not show up that used to show up and when I try to open up certain vsti's (which I often use) it opens up as a completely different vsti. I've tried this both using 32 bit Studio One 2 and the 64 bit version. I also tried it in my old DAW ACID Pro 7 and the same thing happens. I tried the Dune demo last year in my other PC before I upgraded to this new one and the same thing happened. Anyone have an explanation for this? After I unistall Dune everything goes back to normal.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Carol

Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailableWow that's weird. I can't think of anything that would or should cause this. I'm not on Win 7 nor do I use 64 bit or Studio 1 so unfortunately I can't be of much help but I'm sure someone will come along with some answers in no time........
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailableDon't think it's due to either Win7 x64 or Dune, it all works fine here. Works with Orion, DarkWave Studio and OhmStudio. Has to be something else, though it does seem really weird.
Can you tell us where you installed it and how is the VST searching set in your DAWs? Also, are you running your DAWs in administrator mode (right click on it -> Run As Administrator)? SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailablewhat folders are they in?
if your host is looking for 64bit dune and its in your 32bit folder, it will be the only one it sees Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailableCheck the installation path, the VST Plugins path which Studio One uses, and the location of your current plugins. All of them should match. Perhaps they don't, and Studio One changes the path automatically, making Dune appear and the rest disappear. Also what Krim said- make sure you install the proper version for your host (32-bit setup for 32-bit host, 64-bit setup for 64-bit host).
Note that the DUNE installation program (32- or 64-bit) does not modify your VST configuration in any way whatsoever. All it does is placing the Dune.DLL file and the manual into the directory you specify during setup, so it does not modify anything on its own. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailableOK thanks for the info.
I thought because I was using either the 32 or 64 bit version for my DAWs depending on whether or not the plug-ins I wanted to use were 32 or 64 bit I needed to install both versions. Does that go for all vsti's and vst's? Only install the version (32 or 64 bit) that your operating system is running? Thanks
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailable
Not OS, your DAW. I'm using Orion 32-bit, with 32-bit plugins on a 64-bit OS. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailable
Just out of curiosity ....why? Not enough 64 bit versions of the plugins you use to justify going with Orion 64 bit? Can you install both versions of Orion?
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailableprobably, loads of companiesh ave not yet released 64bit versions of their plugins
luckily, every one i use has a 64bit version Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailable
I have both versions installed, though I use x64 for testing. As for why, yes, mainly because of the older plugins I use that didn't switch to x64, and probably never will. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailableTo clarify:
Win 7 64 bit I'm have both 32 and 64 bit versions of Studio One 2 installed as well as 32 and 64 bit plug ins and vsti's installed and use the 32 or 64 bit version DAW depending on whether or not the plug ins or vsti's I want to use have 64 bit versions. Have not tried as Administrator as suggested but will try that tonight. I don't have a full list of the vsti's that don't show up when Dune is installed but I do remember one was Stylus RMX and one was RealGuitar. I installed Dune in the default folder that came up during the install I believe. Typically it's C:Program Files/Vstplugins and Program files x86/Vstplugins Not sure if that's where it went but will check. Any specific place I should install it? Thanks.
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailable
It's nice you can have both versions installed. It will probably be a while before I go Win 7 64 bit simply because everything works perfectly now and I don't use a lot of RAM in my productions. Sorry to hijack your thread Carol..........I hope you get things sorted out....wish I could help......
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailable
It's not as much where you install it as long as your DAW can look there for it. Being that you're on Win7 x64, and plugins are installed inside Program Files (which are basically protected folders by the OS), it might be better if you first try to run it as administrator (right click on shortcut -> Properties -> Compatibility tab -> on the bottom check box "Run this program as an administrator"), before you go on about re-installing stuff. And if that fails, you can try installing plugins somewhere else.
Well, it's easy to have them both, Orion's installer does it all by itself I don't have a lot of RAM either, 4GB is all, and for my production I'm not noticing the need for more. I do see the need for a better CPU though But other people that deal with audio stuff mostly might need more than 4GB. Me... few samples here and there, really no brainer SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Installing Dune makes other Vsti's unavailable
Usually you can install plugins wherever you want, if you configure the VST plugin path in your DAW appropriately. The 32-bit and 64-bit versions must not reside in the same directory, however. If you really installed into PF\VstPlugins and PF(x86)\VstPlugins, then I'm not surprised you're in trouble. Those are virtualized folders, if you have the same filename and path in both, you never really know what's gonna happen. Best is to completely avoid Program Files when using 32- and 64-bit simultaneously. I use a folder like E:\Vst64 and install my 64-bit plugins there, to avoid any confusion. Note the default install path for 64-bit plugins is Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2, as this is what Cubase 64-bit uses. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Will fix it. Carol
