Dune program changesBeen playing with the Dune demo but not sure how to use PROGRAM CHANGES with it - in my live setup I normally use PC's to reset a patch, but Dune 'remembers' changes made to patches so there's no way to get back to the original sound after tweaking. Is there a setting anywhere to 'write protect' the Dune patches so I can recall sounds accurately?
Re: Dune program changesDoes anyone from Synapse actually use this forum? :/ ... I'd email them but as I'm not yet a 'registered user' there's no way for me to contact their technical support. Disappointed.
Re: Dune program changesno there is no way
you can't, just load a new instance of DUNE Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Dune program changesI don't own Dune, but I assume you could save as a new patch preset like "temp" before tweaking..
and then just delete or overwrite the "temp" preset.
Re: Dune program changesAh, gutted, if this is the case there's no way I can use Dune live - I need to be able to e.g. load a preset, open the filter over 16 bars and then re-load the preset to reset it. On some synths this involves adding a duplicate of the preset so that I can switch between the for resets (often recalling a the program you are already on does nothing).
I'm using only controllers, no screen or mouse so no way around it AFAIK. Ah well, plenty more subtractive synths out there. Shame as I really like the sounds I was getting out of Dune. If anyone can Synapse can fill me in I would be very grateful.
Re: Dune program changesi understand your problem now, just create a new bank with your presets and put them twice :
preset1 you tweek that one preset1 you recall the sound Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Dune program changesOk, I see what you're getting at - but what if I need to tweak and return to a preset more than once? I might have to do this 20 times during a rehearsal.. :/
Re: Dune program changeswhat daw are you using ?
if you are using ableton live you should be able to create a clip to bring back the cut off to the exact value Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Dune program changesYeah it's Ableton, but I'm often manipulating several values. On every other synth I use, choosing a new program resets it, I thought that was the whole point of program changes!
Sadly it seems the only way I can reset the patches in Dune at the moment is to reload the project which is not really feasible onstage.
Re: Dune program changeswhat about my idea of using clip ?
Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Dune program changesI've been looking into it and AFAIK this isn't actually possible besides maybe using CC's in a clip. This is why I am using program changes to control setting resets on all the synths I'm using.
Re: Dune program changesHey Jungle, you can use Clyphx to take snapshots of a plug-ins state, that way you can snap the original preset, do some tweaks, take more snapshots, etc. I do this sometimes to morph between sounds (you can set an amount of time it takes for the snapshots to change if it's in a Snap Track)
It might only be a problem if you're switching between presets, because not all Dune's parameters register for automation, can't remember right now. Another thing, when using PC's in a clip, I can't switch to banks B or C, it only stays with A, even if you pick a different bank or sub-bank number. Anyone had success with this?
Re: Dune program changesAh yes, I've been using Clyphx in the set already as it happens, but I've found the snap and dev functions to be unreliable, so I'm generally trying to use Rack automation for anything important. The clyphx 'send' function is useful and seems to trigger ok all the time, so I'm having fun with that at least.
For the kind of tweaking I'm doing, I really need PC's to reset properly or its just too much hassle ... using Alchemy quite a bit right now and loving it, works exactly as I need it to.
