Stretch / expand pattern

Postby Steven_Blair » Wed Oct 02, 2013 6:44 pm

Not sure what this technique is called, but hopefully I can explain it with a couple of pictures:

I have this pattern:

And want to extend it to 64 notes (i.e. just repeat bar 1 another 3 times):

Is this possible (and how would I do it).

Cheers

release the mouse button
ctrl and drag your notes to the right

I should have mentioned that I currently copy and paste the original bar, paste it to next section etc ;)

I was looking for a shorter (lazier) approach, i.e. like a Fill to 64 notes option.

This is a perfect example of how Copy and Paste at Cursor is useful...........

Not really, the way Christophe describes is easier by the time you position the cursor for each paste. That's not to say that paste to cursor wouldn't be an awesome feature to have.

It would work better if the cursor was intelligently positioned by itself at the end of a pattern section (16 division, or 1 bar), kind of like when you paste text. But that might not work if, let's say, you have a 14 steps in a pattern with 2 steps at the end blank... or at the beginning.
