Dune 2 with Novation REmote 25 SL

Postby DavidGabriel » Wed Jun 11, 2014 8:17 pm

Hi, I'm a completely noob. I want to control Dune 2 with Novation Remote 25 SL Keyboard. I can play he keyboard, but I want also to control Knobs and sliders. I tried to instal automap for Dune but still can't control it. I read the manual of dune 2 and at chapter 2.3 MIDI Learn it explains to use just Right-click on a parameter then choose "Learn" to link
it to a particular MIDI controller, but I think this is for Windows users, you see I'm in a Mac. How I do it?

Thanks for your time.

What version of Live? 7, 8, 9, LE, Intro, Standard, Suite? Live 9 does not need automap at all. I might be able to help after we figure out the version.
Cheers

you don't need to know the version to map any synth to any controler, it's the same shortcut CTRL-M
the steps are :
click on MIDI (TOP right of the screen) or CTRL-M
move any gui element
move any physical element
that's it

the configuration of Dune2 by right clicking to learn new Control Change is need when your DAW or/and Controller are not smart
example: your controller knob send CC2 and you want to control the cutoff with it, you will need to configure Dune2 by right clicking the cutoff and moving the knob (the CC2) on your controller
the advantage is that you will configure it only once.
the next time you need to control Dune2 cutoff you will have nothing to do in every DAW

Hi, I use LIve 9 Standard, just upgraded from LIve 8.

you don't need to know the version to map any synth to any controler, it's the same shortcut CTRL-M
the steps are :
click on MIDI (TOP right of the screen) or CTRL-M
move any gui element
move any physical element

I tried that, and nothing happened.

Ok, I'm confused. Without doing nothing, with Automap I can control Keyboard and one or two knobs, but I want to control every knob and every slider.

you need to set up your midi pref correctly :
you need three lines in your midi pref one for each in/out midiin2 midiin3 and remotesl
i did not use automap

Thats why i asked the version. With Live 9 there is no need for automap running or automap enabled plugins. Automap is built-in Live from ver 9. You can (should) close automap when using live 9.
AFAIK the sliders are only for the mixer sliders.
When you press ctrl+m all controls on the mixer and the GUI gets blue, does this happen?
Then you should click the knobs and sliders on dune you want to control. You just have to click them in order and they get mapped in the same order. You should see the controls names appearing next to D2's device if you presson the downward arrow(triangle). (Unfold device parameters) Don't touch the knobs on your controller yet!
Then press ctrl+m again and the blueness should go away, ready to use the controls.
If the controls wont get assigned this way, then look at your MIDI settings.

Cheers.

Hi, again....

When you press ctrl+m all controls on the mixer and the GUI gets blue, does this happen?

Sure..

Then you should click the knobs and sliders on dune you want to control.

Did that.

You should see the controls names appearing next to D2's device if you press on the downward arrow(triangle)

Alright...

and then pressed Ctrl+M (in my case Cmd + M).

Again, some knobs are assigned but not al of them...

Maybe the problem is in Midi Settings, I don't know.

This is how your midi setup should look like with only one controller.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Ok, Thanks for your time.

Now I assigned the knobs like you said. They are assigned but I move the knobs and nothing happens. Not in Dune 2 and not in Novation SL. It shows the name of the knob in the ecran of Novation but I move the knob and it stays in zero.

Sorry for my english, I hope you understand.
