Hell I really missed that. Thanks Teksonic. Normally I am a driver's updates addict, but the M-Audio/Avid pages were such a mess some time a go that must have missed this.
Lets not cheer too early though, I'm not sure whether this solves the case. But at least it's a good thing to try.

Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikesOK, I just installed it, unfortunately the ASIO spikes / dropouts are still there.

Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikes
do yo have updated your GPU driver ? http://support.amd.com/fr-fr/download/d ... t-packages Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikesI hadn't, I have now, it didn't change anything either.

Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikesHmmm, Dropouts I don't have,
but ASIO Overloads I also still have with DUNE 2, as I wrote in my first topic here ... With DUNE 1 or other Synths (except Diversion) I don't have those overloads ...
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikes
So it looks like a problem with Cubase since you both have this host in common. Or the fact that you are both using external USB soundcards. You say this happens with Diversion as well ? For the record Diversion is one of the most CPU demanding plugins I own and can even tax my i7 on certain patches.
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikes
Right, but let's take Diversion beside (the problem is just with some few patches) ... OK. As we "know" now, that this (Cubase / USB Soundcard) might be the problem. What now? I've got any problems with any other synth, not with DUNE1 either. So you're clever programmer and you might certainly know how to fix those problems ... I mean: Should I change now my DAW? Buy me another soundcard? Just for DUNE2? ... this could not be a solution, could it?
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikesLet's look at it from a technical perspective.
I think what the ASIO meter shows is how quickly the audio packet calculation is done by a VSTi, or how much time is left until Cubase needs the audio data. (Is that correct or is it complete bullshit?) That would mean that Dune2 is delivering its packets in time most of the time, but sometimes pretty late. For most users it is late but not too late so they don't hear a dropout and since they don't have an ASIO meter they don't notice anything. For me I notice these as ASIO spikes regularly, and when there is other stuff demanding CPU then it even yields dropouts. Is there anything that could cause this sudden fluctuation of the time it takes to calculate the audio packets? Taking into account that there is a maxed out number of voices playing constantly, as in my test, so the time needed to calculate a buffer should be more or less constant? Maybe we should ask Steinberg what they suppose might be the reason? As I said I also have this in Reaper, and other people in the thread reported also seeing this problem including dropouts, but they attributed it to their system doing something else in that second. Which is only a guess. @Dodo: if you modify the Pigment patch to 8 Unison and 16 polyphony and 96kHz, do you get sporadic dropouts (play a minute or two, both hands, 8th or 16th patterns)? If your machine is really powerful you might have to add some plugins so that the average ASIO load is around 50-70% or so.
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikes
do you have the problem when you reduce the cpu usage of Dune2 by lowering the release and/or the number of voices ? it would be the solution i will choose Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikes
I just tried that, it does not improve the erratic ASIO load and the spikes of Dune2, but it reduces overall ASIO footprint a lot. So it kind of helps, but it's not really a solution to the problem. And for other patches, e.g. Ice Crystals AZ, which also gives me spikes, the release is already short and you can't lower it without changing the sound.
Re: DUNE 2 demo ASIO spikes...since the problem only seems to be there with certain patches, maybe we can nail down a component that causes it? A filter type or something? I already tried turning off all effects on the Pigment patch, it reduced ASIO load but it didn't cure the spikes.
