Good track. Bass line has a good mix with the rhythm section. The general atmosphere is also good.

Another WIP:

Work in progress using Synapse-Audio Orion, Dune 2, EKS Pro, and a couple of beat loops (one cut up, one re-triggered and glitched) in the Orion Drumrack. This track uses 12 instances of Dune 2.

The lazy bass line that begins the track was the last thing added, and I'm not sure that it works as a counter bass line to the original punchier one. Any opinions?

i'm talking about the bright synth (sounds like some sort of brass patch to me) that starts at 00:28

i'm not a fan of the SOUND at all, but this is just my opinion and certainly not that you did anything wrong.

for me personally, that sound kills the vibe that you started and makes me not dig the rest of the track.

just my 2 cents is all -

I don't really hear that sound as brassy.
In fact, it is a Dune 2 Factory synth preset called Bowmonica EDT.
That name certainly doesn't suggest brass. It is more like a bow or reed/melodica/harmonica type sound.
But, I absolutely appreciate the feedback just the same.

I often like to use organic sounding (dub/roots/reggae) type sounds to help curb an otherwise
very electronic sound. I actually prefer this sound to the bright chords that start around the minute mark.
Without those busy bright chords the track has more room, and the sound that you don't like takes center stage.
I would be curious to have you look at the sfs and replace some presets/patches. I realize that you likely don't
have the time or interest, but...lemme know. I don't really give enough time to sound design during the composition stage.
This track came together fast, and with mostly presets or slightly tweeked presets.

feel free to post the .sfs and i might be able to squeeze some time in for it -
of course there really are no "right" or "wrong" decisions for sound choice(s) -
it's really all a matter of personal taste and what you are going for when you are making your music...
