Sampling rates of Dune 2?

Postby Warmonger » Tue Feb 17, 2015 4:00 pm

What are supported sampling rates for Dune 2? Couldn't find that info in manual or specs.

I can only test up to 192kHz, but it works with that and all those down to 44.1kHz.

So it's supposed to work correctly at 88200, right?

Okay, maybe I should be more specific about my problem. These two tracks were rendered at 96K and 44.1K samling rates. You can see that in 96000 version the break falls apart. These are Dune 2 supersaws opening all the way up to max frequency:
Modified presets used:
- EDM Brass KS
- Anjuna Wannabe RL

I guess there are some issues with aliasing or lack of it, or the synth has problems with high frequency filters. Everything else in the project sounds fine and I use some more Dune 2 instances as well.

Sorry that I've taken a while to get back with this.

I've taken the first demo patch of DUNE2 (Avalon) and set all oscillators to reset and switched off noise and FX. There are no other instruments playing. I've then streamed to audio a single note (C4) at 6 different audio rates: 44100, 48000, 88200, 96000, 176400, and 192000.

I've then imported these rendered files in to Mathematica and resampled each wave file to all the other sample rates. I then plot all imported waves for each resampled subgroup on the same graph. What I show here is for resampling all imported waves to 192kHz, but the outcome is the same for all other resampled rates.

Note that this graph contains 6 different lines corresponding to the different original sampling rates of the same patch:

Edit: wrong picture originally uploaded. Now corrected

Note that the filter starts up fully open and closes due to the filter envelope.

The differences at the end of each plot probably represent differences in phasing of the LFOs, since multiple bounces at the same sample rate give the same sorts of differences as different sample rates. If I get time then I'll remove those variables.

I suppose a 'thanks for looking' is too much to ask.

It would also be nice for those here that are interested, and that aren't following your parallel thread on KvR, if you were to mention that you had solved your particular problem.

Oh yes I did. The problem wasn't caused by Dune 2 at all, it's ok.
