Hello everybody, it's my first post here (:
Dune 2 is an amazing synth, i love this one!
I did just work on a sound that mainly lives from the phaser and i noticed that when i press play in my sequencer (FL Studio) the phaser freq doesnt have a start point, so whenever i press play it sometimes starts here and sometimes its at another point. For this particular sound (and others) it would be great if there would be a wheel that makes clear whenever i play the first note, it starts from the same frequencie that i have set in this wheel, and maybe an on/off button to "lock it" with the sequencer or just let it play around as it does now.
best regards,
Sirous

Re: Dune 2 - phaser startIm just learning Dune 2 so I'm not sure if this is correct but maybe you need to use the "Osc Init Phase" in the Destination section of the Mod Matrix.
from the manuel: Osc Init Phase This parameter sets the absolute starting phase of the oscillator whenever a note is triggered. As a conse- quence, it will no longer be in free-run mode. Set to zero, the specified oscillators starts at zero phase. An amount of +50 corresponds to a +180 degree phase shift, an amount of +100 to +360 degrees, etc. While the human hearing is largely insensitive to the starting phase of a single oscillator, the relative phase difference between both oscillators can matter in some cases, for example when both oscillators share the exact same frequency Not sure if this helps or not.
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startAre you talking about osc phase or the phaser effect?

Re: Dune 2 - phaser startI'm trying this on an INIT patch in FL Studio but I can't seem to hear what you're describing. The Phaser does seems to reset but maybe that's just the way I have the patch setup. Can you post the DUNE 2 patch you're working on so we can check it out please ? Does using Phaser Sync make any difference ?
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startI think he means the phaser effect. If you do then I hear what you're saying. Here's an idea, although I can't test it right now. Try turning the rate down on the phaser down to minimum with sync off. Now use an LFO to modulate the frequency parameter in the phaser. Set the init phase of the LFO to the desired value. Should be fun playing with LFO shapes if it does work!
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startHmmm as I said earlier I can't hear what he's talking about with the Phaser Effect. Or at least it's very subtle. This is in FL Studio 11. Maybe it's more obvious in the patch he's working on............
EDIT: Ok I can hear it now. Didn't an extreme enough setting. I'm trying Const to FX Phaser Rate in the Mod Matrix but that doesn't seem to stop it all together. I tried your LFO idea as well. Getting some cool stepping effects with the Ramp and pretty radical phasing with the Pulse but it doesn't seem to reset the Phaser either. Seems like what he's looking for is Phaser waveform reset...maybe some kind of automation envelope in FL Studio would work.
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startHad a chance to play a bit more. Setting the LFO init phase will reset the frequency to the same value each time here. It also resets when the LFO is sync'ed. Also, don't worry about setting Const to a value on phaser rate, just turn the depth knob down on the phaser. That will shut off the internal modulation. The LFO-mod isn't quite the same, but close enough and there is actually a pleasant second wobble going on in the background when increasing the number of stages
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startPhaser Freq or Phaser Rate ? What are the Mod Matrix settings ?
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startLFO to control phase frequency. Everything else switched off.
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startNo Rate ?
Re: Dune 2 - phaser start
No rate. Set by the LFO with init phase set in the mod matrix on the frequency parameter. Slightly different sound, but it should do what the OP wants.
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startI stopped caring what the OP wants..................... (not really)
Actually Lfo 2 to Rate and LFO 3 to Freq is making some cool sounds. LFO 1 to LFO 2 and 3 rate adds some motion........
Re: Dune 2 - phaser startThx for all the answers (:
@Mark: Yes this works here too. It's as you said to lfo (with sync on) the phaser freq and turn the depth down in the phaser.
