The vstcfg file contains entries for almost every plugin released at the time it was created and a TON that I don't even own. I've never bothered to delete the entries that I don't need. The config file on my studio computer has the same number of entries but Orion loads in just a couple of seconds because the plugin count is much lower there...........
It's also missing some of the plugins that I do own so it's not absolutely necessary for a plugin to be listed in the config file for Orion to recognize and load it........
So you're saying that you have all 686 plugins installed ?
EDIT: Just for giggles I edited the vstcfg file on this computer and deleted all the entries I don't need. I didn't time it with a stop watch but it didn't seem to speed up load time at all.......maybe a couple of seconds if that.
(it was interesting to see some of the ancient plugins in the list....Neon...Tritium bassline etc. Even Gakstoar Alpha is listed although it's misspelled and it must be 15+ years old).
Orion's load time on this computer is not a big deal. I've gotten used to it. I just start it up and go fix a cup of coffee or something. Reaper does the same thing. Sonar and FL don't because they don't scan plugins at startup (Orion's scan at startup is unselected).
