Hi Teksonik,
don't worry if people doesn't understand the Dune2 quality, you know, the env can be at a sample resolution, a sample not a millisecond, i have said it a lot on kvr, but if they don't want to understand, what you want, it s like that, and personaly, i prefer 2 greats soundbanks made by Kevin than a million made by speudo sounddesigner, people don't like the factory presets, it's one of the best bank factory,in software, i have never seen, but if kvr bashing user don't like....let them and
cheer

Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
But, I'm a senior citizen as well. I didn't realise I'd said that
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedI forget what we're talking about..........
Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
Yes I get your point but allowing a product to be wrongly bashed is not good for business. If someone just says "it sucks" then yes there's nothing that can be done but if they say "DUNE can't do XYZ" when in fact it can do XYZ then someone should point that out to let people who might be thinking of buying DUNE know it's just as capable or more than it's competition. Like I've said it's not my product but having been there since DUNE 2's early Betas I feel a responsibility and loyalty to defend her and I'm also a huge fan of it's sound as well. So I get defensive on both levels. Silly comments like "it's not snappy or plucky or punchy or has no balls" shouldn't just be left unanswered especially as we know that's not true. Simply going through the factory presets and listening to the third party soundset demos proves that DUNE2 is more than capable of being as snappy, plucky, punchy, ballsy, etc etc as anyone could want.
Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
THIS! Dune 2 has by a country mile the best factory sound bank (i'm especially a huge fan of the KS patches). Otheres have more and also very unique ones but Dune 2 is the only synth where i can say that i like or find at least 80% of included patches useful. And i'm even not such a EDM fan. Dune 2 can do so much more. (....but as side note.... my all time, all favourite patch bank ever is still Steamworx for Alchemy.... damn i love it!) I hope Kevin makes some more of his great Ambient, Soundtrack patches. Please no third EDM patch bank next..... please
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedHey Richard! Pretty happy to know that DUNE 2 is receiving a big update, hopefully before the end of the year
Could you please share some details?
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedWhy bump this thread for that question ?
Anyway since you did DUNE 2's CPU usage is getting trashed by a couple of users over the last couple of days. Someone from Synapse should address it to keep the bad press from effecting potential customers....... http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=450577&p=6298789#p6298789
Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
I did because it was in this thread where I read Richard talking about a new update incoming. Should I open a whole new exciting thread instead, just to ask the simple question?.. Whatever..I don't understand DUNE 2 getting thrashed over CPU usage. It is very CPU efficient over here. That said, I have a beast PC, so I don't really know. But I've heard everywhere people praising DUNE 2's CPU efficiency.
Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
Asking questions is sort of the whole purpose of the Plugin Support Forum and would have probably caught more attention but your timing was perfect since DUNE 2 is indeed getting trashed again by a couple of users. People who are thinking of buying DUNE 2 might see that thread and think it's too CPU hungry for their systems so it would be a good idea to address that issue. Perhaps there is an obscure bug or some system specific issue or just plain user error. I've posted a screenshot showing only 12% CPU with three notes an a patch with all OSCs at full density on all 8 layers with full Polyphony on an aging Q6600 CPU, a setting that is far beyond what is needed for a practical patch: So if there is an obscure bug I'd like to help find it, if there is an issue with certain DAWs or configurations under certain conditions Synapse should be made aware of that and if it's just user error then that should be pointed out as well to keep people from thinking that DUNE 2 demands too much CPU.....
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedI just posted an in depth test of the 'offending' patch using my machine over at KvR. CPU usage seems perfectly reasonable to me. More than reasonable actually.
Errrr, YMMV
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedI also can say that Dune 2 is very low on cpu for what great sounds it can produce!
Off topic but i can say that Dune 2 seems to have the best interpolation resolution from any wavetable synths including Serum, Falcon, Nave etc. None of these sounds so "smooth" while morphing trough a wavetable. Can´t wait to get the wavetable editor..... uups, wrong thread Even more off topic.... make an iPad Pro version please.......(yes, no joke)! Enough said..... i wish you all a great next year and so! Cheers!
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedToday I saw a comment on KVR. Someone says: "Dune2 is great but have bad filters for me..." and another replies "I wouldn't say bad filters, more like dull compared to the Spire filters...Dunes filters don't bite across a wide range and seem limited" I've read comments about this several times. Same with the normal envelopes not being "snappy" enough. Others saying DUNE 2 is not as good for "simple" or "usable" sounds; that DUNE 2 is "soft and mellow"; also this "Sylenth has a very stable sound. Also in my example there is a difference in the unison stereo image. Sylenth is more static while Dune2 has some wandering in the stereo image (and this with all algorithms, also with Gaussian)".
Plenty of ideas thrown in the thread here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 4&start=75 Any thoughts on this subjects?
Re: DUNE 2 Getting TrashedI wouldn't get too stressed about it. Every forum has masters of baiting
What matters most should be what YOU think
Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
Yes, indeed. But just for curiosity I want to hear some ideas relating to these subjects, as I hear comments like that very often. To me it's not a real problem, though. I love DUNE 2 in its entirety.
Re: DUNE 2 Getting Trashed
Well to Synapse it should matter most what potential customers think of DUNE 2 and reading such negative comments can only have a negative effect on sales. Sure most people will try the demo of a synth that interests them before buying but reading "weak", "dull", "not snappy", "not punchy", etc, etc may cause people to not even bother trying the demo. Those of us who already own DUNE 2 know those things aren't true but someone who has never tried DUNE 2 will not........ All I can say is if Synapse were my company and DUNE 2 were one of my flagship products I would care what is being said.
