I love The Legend (RE), but please...

Postby pepparpeppar » Sat Jan 28, 2017 7:59 pm

... minimoogs are nice, and I really appreciate that Synapse have turned their attention to Reason RE, but:

1) PW-control and PWM.
2) Oscillator sync.
3) Dedicated LFO (´s).
4) Mod-matrix.
5) Additional filter with BP- and HP-modes.

...in no special order.

I would gladly open my wallet again, and I am not alone.

Antidote is nice but it lacks the raw punch and precense of a moog. I think.

Synapse obviously have models of the oscillators and the LP-filter, so PWM, sync and BP/HP modes should not be that hard I think...

A problem, from a marketing perspective, is that a hybrid bastard like could not claim to emulate an existing synth.

At this point I'd almost rather see The Legend called a finished product and Synapse to start on a new VA product that would include Hard Sync, PWM, More Filters, More Polyphony, an Arp etc etc. It wouldn't have to emulate anything from years ago just be a killer VA for 2017 and beyond....... 8)

I don't know what would be better for Synapse. Add The Legend's "mojo" to DUNE 3 or to create a new VA with a more classic look without wavetables etc. I'm all for either option or both. It just seems like tacking more and more stuff on Legend unless one of those things is added Polyphony doesn't make a whole lot of sense. :)

I keep thinking a nice Poly VA with the same high quality as The Legend, something along the lines of the Dave Smith Rev2 would sell well for Synapse building on the success of The Legend. Not an exact emulation of the Rev 2 of course but something similar with the most common feature requests for Legend included, Osc Phase Reset, Hard Sync, PWM etc etc. :)

Something for those of us who don't want to spend $3000 + for a synth. 8)

Dave Smith stuff is boring. The filter is crap. Its over hyped and over priced.

I agree Synapse shouldnt go too far with Legend, keeping it close to original with a few modern touches.

I thought I made it pretty clear that I was talking about something along the lines of a Rev 2 in terms of architecture not in terms of exact sound. I didn't say anything about emulating the Dave Smith Rev 2 Filters (which are Curtis filters by the way).

Yes, i know what the filter is. I find all of his stuff boring. Dune2 is already leagues above anything he has ever done, sound and feature wise.

I'm not defending Dave Smith's synths. I simply saying a synth from Synapse with similar architecture as the Rev 2 and the same quality as The Legend would probably be a hit for Synapse. Something between the simplicity of The Legend and the complexity of DUNE. Legend seems to have gone over well and something like it with more Polyphony, Hard Sync PWM etc etc would probably be just as popular or perhaps more.

I don't really care if you find Dave Smith synths boring or not....that's not the point.

Perhaps you missed my point then
D2 is already way ahead of anything he's done recently. Features, architecture, sound...

Simple as that . Stuff already exists. Get it now?

Obviously you missed my point....again. Stop focusing on Dave Smith. I suggested another product from Synapse that would probably sell well as a VSTi and probably sell even better as a Rack Extension given the popularity of The Legend. Something between the feature sets of The Legend and DUNE 2/3. I only used the Rev 2 as an example not as a target to emulate. It's about a product that could do well for Synapse not what you think about Dave Smith's synths. I don't know how much clearer I can make that to you.

Simple as that. Get it now ?

Maybe a picture would help, as you clearly have trouble reading
