Automatic Delay Compensation in Orion 8.6

Postby effekthascher » Tue Aug 29, 2017 9:22 am

Hi there
On of the most important feature the version 7 had was damaged.
Did you know how rich the sound gets if you changed from 120 bpm to 120.19 or something like this ? The delay followed the 120 bpm and the sound dramatically increases.
Could anyone tell me how to disable Automatic Delay Compensation ?

Please turn it back!

Try: File -> Project Settings -> Mixer Parameters (on the right side) -> Plugin Delay Compensation.

jo thanx
This tiny little switch handles external loaded plugs and not internal x-delay ... is this right?

According to the help file, it's for VSTs, yes.

I would imagine internal effects wouldn't suffer the output latencies, being synced to the host and all.

It only affects fx that introduce latency in their internal processing.

Nothing to do with syncing to host.

For VSTs. I would imagine internal FX don't have that "problem".

Not syncing to host. I don't know what to call it, so poor choice of words, I guess.

Hello
after your little discusion i am confused more than before.
Also my english is not good enough to explain.
The compansation has nothing to do with delay sync to bpm?
So i don't know how to fix my problem to desync x-delay with bpm as possible in orion version 7.10
I hope i did not boring you with my stupid question.
Will use 7.10 further
Have a good time members and lots of fun making music

You have to use another delay, use any delay with a sync switch

Naturally, so i had to change this in dozens of my sound experiences i made over the years to correct a mistake, the developers made. They had the choise to insert a button to sync or not sync the internal echoes, isn't it?
No wonder that orion never got the state like other products.
Since a few days i tried to become more familar with v8.6 and recognized that it runs very unstable and tells me that the app can not be run. I had to reboot my pc in hope problem is gone.
No, after some seconds or minutes orion is crashing again.
Never had these problems with v7.10.
I decided to install abelton live trial to ensure if thats the product of the future.

To be honest, I have no idea what you're talking about.
I tried to put a synth with X-Delay, and then I changed tempo.
I noticed 2 things:
1. X-Delay played perfectly to whatever tempo I set Orion to, which is exactly what's expected of internal FXs; and
2. I couldn't tell a damn difference between 120.00 and 120.19 bpm. I really tried to notice it, but nothing.
If you have a project file we could check where things that you mention happen, that would be very helpful.

Also, you're possibly one of the rare people that can't get 8.6 to work properly. What did you mean that it tells you the app cannot be run? I honestly can't remember in all these years anyone reporting that. Telling us what exactly it says (maybe post a screenshot of that message) would be helpful. But, I'm willing to bet that Orion isn't the cause of crashes. There might be some other underlying problem(s).

Ableton Live could be your "product of the future", being that Orion has been discontinued and won't be developed anymore. Truth is, even if there is "a mistake the developers made", it won't be corrected. So either learn to work with it, or move on. It's simple as that.

Orion has been discontinued and will see no further development. Might be time for you to move on.
