Is it safe to compress my files with 7zip?

Postby kiana1990 » Thu Feb 21, 2019 9:27 am

I need to get about 15gb of my mp3s and mp4s unto my flash drive and 7zip from 7zipguides.com has a compression method that basically makes files a third of the size. Is there anything I should be wary of before doing this? Like will it make the songs not sound as good or anything

"Zipping" won't make them sound worse. To be able to view/listen to them, in most cases, you (or whoever) will need to unpack it first, and that brings the files to a previous state before the compression. The whole procedure is generally considered safe.

Although, I'm suspicious of their claim that it can make files 1/3 of the size. MP3 and MP4 are already compressed files.
