d3 upgrade price issues

Postby kevvvvv » Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:21 pm

Not yet prepared to pay the upgrade price.

Too high for a catch-up spec.

Don't get me wrong.

I love D2 and use it all the time because I like its core sound, and especially Kevin Schroder and Cuebrick presets.

Please mail me when there's a special offer for existing owners and I'll buy.

what a snarky post

well worth the effort of making a new thread to slag off the pricing

It's legitimate feedback but I don't like his chances of getting an official heads-up. It's probably just the timing, with u-he having given Hive users wavetable synthesis for nothing and everyone doing sales over the holiday season. That said, as a general rule I think upgrade pricing should be between a quarter and one-third of the full purchase price. Any more and it becomes a bigger decision. The D3 upgrade is more than I pad for Thorn, Factory or Cyclop, all of which are really good synths in their own right.

Of course, its' not really fair to compare one company wit another. u-he, for example is a much bigger company with a broader range of products so they can afford to spread a little good will. OTOH, DUNE is clearly Synapse's main source of income, so they need to make money from it. Ultimately, it is what it is and customers will pay it or they won't. We're all different and we all make our own decisions.

Nope, sprung for D3 after all.

Too good a synth to pass up. Demos sound great.

And UK price wise isn't as bad as I thought.

After VAT it's £50, which I think is fair.

So apologies to all for my previous rancour.

I have to say it is somewhat amusing to see the word "Novice" under your name. DUNE is way better than Omnisphere, I'm sure.
