Have any of the Wavetable experts created the Waveforms from the Korg DW 8000 ? I watched Espen Kraft's DW 8000 video and he's made some cool sounds for it but I don't see any reason that Dune 3 couldn't replicate them even with a single layer. I've done some similar sounds in D3.
I suppose it would be possible to get close by simply hand drawing the waveforms in D3. Oh well it's just something to beat the lock down blues....
Here's Espen's video.....

Re: DW 8000 WaveformsI found the waves from http://dbwbp.com/synthbin/Korg_DW8000_Waves.zip
They are in the rom format, but looks fairly simple. Would require conversion to Dune 3 format.
Re: DW 8000 Waveformscan they be converted to wav?

Re: DW 8000 Waveformshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLdyOfd15gw The site (link), however, no longer works to me... How or with what (software) could these files inserted in the zipped archive be played? Thank you.
Re: DW 8000 WaveformsWell, readme describes the format. You probably can open it as raw in any audio editor and then do your magic there, however easier would be to make small program to split and convert as there are many files. Format is 8-bit unsigned and each sound contains several waveforms with varying lengths.
Re: DW 8000 Waveformshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_fqy8HpCME I did a Drag & Drop and the editor asked me how to resample the waveform ... Then I think you just have to save it in .wav and have it read by Dune 3 ... Thanks.
Re: DW 8000 Waveformsok, works here
1. rename .bin files to .raw 2. load into soundforge as 8 bit unsigned mono 3. save as 16/44 mono wav 4 reload, edit out first single cycle at 2048 samples long and save as 16/44 mono wav they are multi ocatve samples, you only need the first one in each selection should be a total of 16 waveforms i think, i'll have a go at it later Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: DW 8000 WaveformsI apologize then I was wrong ... However I did a try to rename the file in .raw and it seems to me that you get the same thing .. But I could be wrong ... Why do you have to set 8 bit unsigned ? Thank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuOMs5UByek

Re: DW 8000 Waveformsif you set it to 16 bit, the files are not the right length (ie not 2048 as a single cycle)
anyway, i got the first 14, then it was a bit wierd also, its not a good recording, some clipping, and not always zero crossing, so doesnt sound great (as you can only pick the first one) not really worth the effort imo Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: DW 8000 Waveforms
Thanks I tried converting them but nothing I have installed on this system is up to the task. From what Krim is saying it's not worth the effort. I was originally wondering if Mark Holt or someone who has been doing a lot of Waveforms and Wavetables were ever able to recreate the DW8000 wavs. I think he's done thousands of WT's so it seems like he would be able to create the 16 simple waves found in the DW. I suppose going by the images of the wavs it would be possible to get pretty close by hand drawing them. Maybe I'll give that a go. Anyway it was just something to kill time. I still say D3 could do those patches in Espen's DW video without breaking a sweat.
Re: DW 8000 WaveformsI made a WT with 14 of them, I'll upload it tonight...

Re: DW 8000 WaveformsThanks. I tried to hand draw wave #2 and ended up with a usable waveform but I don't think it's anywhere near the original DW waveform.
Re: DW 8000 WaveformsI agree and I still think that Dune 3 might make a pretty convincing emulation. The only thing might be the filter but after a quick Google search I couldn't find out what Filter it uses beyond a 24db.
If you could nail the DW8000 sound with one Layer in D3 then it would allow you to layer several of them in a single patch. Thanks, I'll give your Wavetables a go tomorrow.......
