Hi everyone,
Is there a trick to set the Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 independently in DUNE?
I've got a recipe for a voice that calls for Square OSC1 @ 25% Pulsewidth
+ Square OSC2 @ 10% Pulsewidth tuned up 10 semitones with Synch on.
The OSC mix is about 50/50.
I realize that I can use 2 voices and the mod matrix, however I'm not sure how I would get Synch if I took that approach.
Best regards,
Gino

Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEI think this should be possible. I'm off to bed now though, but I'll have a look in the morning. You are on the right line. I think the key thing will be to set OSC mix to 0 and 100% for voice 1 and 2 respectively. That would be the same as a 50:50 mix. Sync will work on top of that.
Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEThanks Mark! That put me in the right direction.
By setting the mix to OSC2 only, I can use 2 voices and mod PW and pitch of voice one to get Synch. Best regards, Gino
Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEyou cannot sync two voices together, only oscillators in the same voice
you can get the PW settings you want using this MM having a global PW is one of the few downsides to Dune in its current state IMO Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEIf I understand correctly, then yes, it can be done. Here is how I've done it.
This image is with sync turned off: This image is with sync turned on: I have changed the pan for both oscillators so that they can be seen separately in the signal analyser seen underneath DUNE. The blue line is OSC1 and the green is OSC2 in both images. Remove the two pan directives to get what you want. Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEimages are too small, got any bigger ones?
either way, using 2 voices means they are not synced (in the usual osc sync manner) as they are 2 diff signals (as i understand it anyway) and do not interact with each other (like a normal sync would do, with osc 2 hardwired to osc 1) Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEAre you going blind in your old age Dave, or just too much wa... tering the garden
The oscillators are synced as they should be, the classic hard sync comes from changing osc2 pitch though, doesn't it, which is also easy enough to do with this patch. Here are the larger images in the same order: No sync: Sync: You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNE
yes, sync (and fm) sounds better when they are detuned from each other, but, as he wants 2 diff pw's, he needs 2 diff voices to get that...which means the diff pw'sosc's are not sync'd to each other....yes? Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEi dunno, your sound sounds right to me....the thoery didnt sound right tho....i think i was over complicating

Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNEThey looked pretty synced to me in that second image. The patch in that image has two different PW's and Osc2 for the second voice is detuned +10. The magic comes from setting the osc mix appropriately. However, I do see your point that you can't sync between voices and what I've done is a bit of a cheat, but it does what Gino wants. My patch relies on the fact that voices 1 and 2 for Osc1 will be by definition synced. I then globally set PW for voice 1 to 25 and that for voice 2 to 10. So, really voice 2 for osc 2 is synced to voice 2 for osc 1, but as I've noted voice 2 for osc1 is synced to voice 1 for osc 1, therefore voice 2 for osc 2 is synced to voice 1 of osc 1. A bit of appropriate setting of osc mix for voice 1 and voice 2 will then get where Gino wants to be.
Re: Setting Pulsewidth on OSC1 and OSC2 in DUNE..and you need -15 to get a pw of 10...you did do maths didnt you mark?
