Are there anywhere available VSTi, which could make out that Lionel Hampton Type Xylo? I am huge fan of his music. Also Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Benny Goodman, Tony Bennet etc.
So, yes, hope somebody can help.

Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
I completely disagree. No one synth can make every sound or variation of sounds, Dune is a great synth with loads of it's own character which is very important in this market but it can not sound like Alchemy or Wusisktation etc. It's simply a matter of architecture..... Your Xylo /Harpsi example simply demonstrates to me that Samples would be the way to go for these type of sounds. Unless of course you are aiming for a cheesy WalMart Casio sound........... Dune is simply brilliant at creating modern synth sounds and with all the free GM alternatives it doesn't make sense to have only one tool in the box....especially the wrong tool.........I'm pretty confident in saying that Rich did not have General Midi in mind when creating Dune..... But like you said to each his own......
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNEThe OP asked for general midi sounds. Of course it's got to sound like a cheap Walmart Casio
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
Hi gents. Cheap Casio Walmart sounds would be fine by me , i wouldn't expect DUNE to produce an exact replica of a GM instrument but an interpretation of that instrument.
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
Hi megawatt, Did you see the link to the mp3 file that I put up? It's at the bottom of page 2 of this thread if you didn't.
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNEthis is exactly the purpose of sound synthesis : to sound different !
it does not mean that you can't be inspired by real instrument to make sound design, if not, you take the risk to "loose" your listener inside the sea of experimentalism Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
Well said sir! Hi there Mark. I'm at work at the moment and policy makes us unable to stream stuff but i will check it out tonight and give feedback
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNEHi Mark.
I've just listened to triplets and i am well impressed with your Xylophone sound please keep those sounds coming
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
You've got a good point there..... the two are Synonymous.........
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
The term "General Midi" does not conjure up visions of "different"...........
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNEProgramming DUNE to sound like a Xylophone is like driving a Porsche across the street for a pack of ciggies....Programming DUNE to sound like a big fat modern synth is like driving the Porsche at the Nürburgring.........
*Disclaimer: In my opinion of course...................
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNE
If I had a Porsche I would do both
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNEIf I had a Porsche we wouldn't be having this conversation...........
Re: Bread and butter soundsets for DUNEProbably not. You'd be racing around the Nürburgring, whilst I'd be out buying ciggies
