This often crashes when I install a new vst and can do so over and over when I am rescanning vsts.
I am using Vista x64. It will say that it's stopped working and needs to close.

plugchecker.exeWell, I have been for as long as I can remember. I was hoping for insight as to why it does, I guess.
plugchecker.exejust get rid of your nonworking VSTs then, or add them to vstcfg.txt
btw: would be nice if people would post theirs, then I can make one big file out of them for everybody to enjoy (& you won't have probs when reinstalling Orion) Admin - Synapse Audio Software

plugchecker.exeIt doesn't say which don't work. In fact, all of my plugins seem to work regardless of this thing crashing.
Edit to say that perhaps there are some which don't work. I use a fuckton of freeware plugins and it's hard to keep track sometimes of which work and don't. Last edited by this instrument on Fri Feb 06, 2009 3:59 pm, edited 1 time in total.
plugchecker.exerich; toxic 2.5 should be added to that list (atleast for me) - i cannot open toxic2.5 without adding it to vstcfg.txt at all.
plugchecker.exeI've already done that (and updated the installers afair) but I'd like a bigger list with standard stuff like Kontakt 3 etc

Re: plugchecker.exeNI Massive 1.1.4, NI Massive 1.2.1, & NI Massive 1.3.1, crash on Windows7 + Orion 7.5 for the smae [Plugchecker has stopped working this program]
I found a file called PlugChecker in my Orion folder, can I delete it? If I delete it, VST work properly? BTW, some VST (Even Poly850 from Synapse!) installed successfully but can't find from Tab 'Insert-VST Instruments' . When I try to load my old songs (which used those VST) every single time shows something like [can't find the VST path please chose brabrabra]. then load it, the work it.. but can't make any new tracks using those VST. What can I do? I tried to installed on the folder VST plugins, VST instruments, even tried to make a folder in it and installed, copied,, nothing work.Option-VST path shows both VST instruments & VST plugins,, but doesn't work.. well so far only Massive & Poly850 though I really need them to work!!! Help me!
Re: plugchecker.exe
Orion 8 has updated list of VST plugins, V7 doesn't have many in it, and might make PluginChecker crash if there's something wrong. Here are few steps you can do to make sure things work. 1. Make sure you are running Orion as administrator: - Right click on Orion's shortcut (in Start, on Desktop... anywhere you might use to run Orion) - when the menu opens, click on Properties - switch to Compatibility tab - under "Privilege Level" on the bottom, check the "Run this program as an administrator" box. - Apply and OK. Alternatively, you can also go to your Orion folder (again, where you have it installed), right click on the PlugChecker.exe, and do the same thing (Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this program as administrator). 2. Make it easy for PluginChecker to find things: - Find vstcfg.txt inside your Orion folder (where you installed it... hopefully, it's not in Program Files) - Download the attachment: - Unpack is somewhere you will find it easily, to get the vstcfg.txt file inside, like on Desktop - Replace the existing file inside Orion's folder with the one from the attachment (either copy or move would do) - Run Orion and let it finish scanning (don't click on the splash screen that shows) If that doesn't work, inside Orion, go to Options -> VST Paths -> Rescan at Startup (check box on the bottom). Click OK, close Orion, and then run it again, and let it rescan your VST folders.
NOOOO!!! Orion won't find any new plugins if you delete it, and chances are your VSTs still won't work.
Make sure you have your plugins installed inside the VSTplugins folder. In case you install it somewhere else, you will have to add those folders to the VST Paths list (Orion -> Options -> VST Paths), after which you will need to close Orion and let it rescan the folders again. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: plugchecker.exeHi, thank you for your kind instruction, I understand now more about how it works!
however, I tried all the instruction you told me but still no luck.. Orion searched VST again and Plugchecker.exe stopped Massive again.
Yes, I did that. & I reset VST path, scanned again but still Poly850 and Massive don't appear on 'Insert -> VST Instrument' When I open old songs which I used these instruments it shows 'could not find VST Plugin Massive(or Poly850).please make sure your VST plugins/instrument paths are set up correctly(Options/VST Paths). Please select the new location of the plug in now' then I select Massive.dll(Poly850.dll) in the VST instrument(or plug in) folder it works.. but every single times when I open the songs I have to select , besides can't make new songs with these VST...
Re: plugchecker.exeNow, I'm a bit confused.
I gathered from your other post about Mac and Bootcamp, about which I really don't know anything, but don't see an issue if you're already running Windows on it. What puzzles me now is that, at least in my folders, Poly850 comes as 64-bit version, and as such won't work with 32-bit version of Orion. I'm unsure if there is a 32-bit version of Poly850. If there is, it should work. Like I said, I don't have a 32-bit version of Poly850. But the fact that you can still open them when prompted to find them in your folders suggest that both Poly850 and Massive are 32-bit (or at least compliant with the version of Orion you're using, but I'm making a safe guess it's 32-bit version that you're using). So, let's start from the beginning. Can you check where you have Poly850 and Massive installed, the exact paths where the .dll files are, and then check that those same folders are also set in your VST Paths inside Orion? By all means, Orion shouldn't have trouble finding them, or using them for that matter. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: plugchecker.exeeverything is 32bit. Windows7, Orion, VSTs.
What is really strange is, my Poly850(v1.01) came with Hydra as Synth pack1. Hydra does work without any problem(I use Hydra a lot. if it also didn't work, i would be nut) but Poly850 doesn't! I reinstalled Poly850 again, but it still doesn't work. Path is Orion->VST Instrument. 1 solution is open as DIrect X....as Direct X I can open from Insert->DirectX but Massive can't instal as DirectX so I have to really find solution. actually plugchecker only stop Massive too. Maybe Massive is too heavy for my orion..!?? About installing Orion outside of Program files, I wish I could do, but if I do so, I have to find all the drum samples and my original presets for all the old tracks I've composed last 12 years, each time open the tracks,, which is quite impossible to remember in which folder each sound was saved.. If I upgrade to Orion 8.5, definitely I will install outside of programe file as paralleled though.
