So this is a weird one. I set up Dune 3 on the Reason Rack (Reason 9.5) in VST mode on my laptop as I was using a patch for live play. I was using a Yamaha MOXF for the MIDI controller. I created the patch for Dune 3 I wanted, using but 2 of the 8 voices. This was only one of several rack modules I was using for the set up, each assigned to its own MIDI channel. I use the Master mode on the Yamaha to make the changes from one module to another, depending on the song, and what module I want to play.
So, whenever I selected a different setup on the Yamaha MAster, and then went back to the one for the Dune 3 patch, for some reason the number of voices jumped from 2 to 6, which, in this case, caused some CPU clog for me and Reason would just stop playing until I reset it by hitting "Stop" and then manually switching the number of voices on Dune back to 2 for the patch.
HOWEVER, if I hosted Dune 3 inside the Reason Combinator in the rack, this did NOT happen. Its very weird. Seems to only happen when I have Dune 3 by itself in the rack, but not in combinator. But what could possibly make the number of voices change (and nothing else) in Dune just by calling up its MIDI channel off the controller?
Scratching my head... It could be some kind of bug in Dune. Or then again in Reason. I have no way to tell. Just wanted to let you all know.

Re: Strange Behavior with Dune 3 in Reason RackI don't own Reason but with the VSTi version of Dune 3 you can Midi Learn the Voice AMT. Is it possible a controller got assigned to that by mistake ?
I had an issue that was driving me nuts and it turned out I had Midi Learned a controller to a parameter by mistake. I just hit Midi Forget and the problem went away. Worth a look anyway.
Re: Strange Behavior with Dune 3 in Reason Rack
That's a good suggestion, but no, that's not it. Its vexing in that if I want to use Dune 3 in the Reason rack during live play, which I often do, apparently I have to first set up a combinator on the rack and then put Dune 3 in that.
Re: Strange Behavior with Dune 3 in Reason RackOh well it was worth a mention. I don't know if anyone else who posts here frequently owns Reason so you might have to wait for Rich or Marcin to respond.
Re: Strange Behavior with Dune 3 in Reason RackAs Teksonik says, the #1 reason for such issues is unwanted MIDI activity. Please check the MIDI Led in DUNE 3, if there is any activity then this is the problem.
If you are sure the problem is elsewhere, please verify you have the very latest DUNE 3 version installed (3.2). If you do have it installed, I would recommend to try the latest Reason 11 demo instead of Reason 9. VST integration is fairly new in Reason, and initially had some issues that have been fixed meanwhile. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: Strange Behavior with Dune 3 in Reason Rack
Thanks, Richard. I do have the latest version of Dune 3. I'll check the LED as suggested and see. I won't get to it until tomorrow probably. I'll report back what I find.
