The Legend 1.4 Modulation bug (Modwheel -> Mod Amt)

Postby ivan234098 » Tue Jul 19, 2022 2:27 am

I'm attaching a video. https://youtu.be/pQTInqfz28s

If:
1. Select Modwheel modulation -> Mod Amt
2. Turn the modulation knob to 100%
3. Turn the modulation wheel and return it to the zero position,
then the modulation will not stop.
Repeats on any presets.

I think this is a bug.

"Mod Amt" is Modulation amount. This is independent of the modulation wheel, the main idea is to add modulation by aftertouch or velocity for instance. Since the mod wheel already controls the modulation amount in The Legend, routing it on mod amount is not necessary. We will look into it though regardless why this is happening. :)

The Legend can modulate the osc and filter (via enabling the switches on the front panel, top-left, "Controls" section). Now just like in the original Model D, the modulation wheel is hard-wired to control the modulation amount directly.

With the performance matrix on the back panel, some other parameter like aftertouch can be used to control that modulation amount. And that is what the destination "Mod Amt" is for. I agree it should be documented more thoroughly like in Obsession and DUNE 3, the performance matrix is only touched briefly in the Legend manual as it was added later and was not part of the original spec.

Ok, so if he removes that from the MM, and switches to filter or osc, the MW will automatically be set to control mod amt to 100%?
