Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresOrion 8.02 when working with a more demanding project start to drop at 50% capacity utilization of the four core processor. The engine support for multiple processors is underdeveloped, because from what I have observed is written in only two cores. I look forward to some fixes for this problem. In my opinion, this is the greatest shortcoming of Orion. My list of hardware:

Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresI've just posted your report in the beta forum. I'm afraid I have no way of checking this, since I only have two cores. Others there have more and will be able to check for you.
Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresi don't see any difference with ableton live : same project, same vst ...
orion is using 4 cores as ableton live Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ

ok I'll try to somehow prove graphically CPU: Phenom II X4 Sound card: Emu 1616 , Tannoy Precission 8D Ram: 4GB 1600Mhz OS: Windows 7 x64 Synth: Roland JP-8000

Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresunless things have changed, the CPU usage reported on the status bar is not accurate with multi-core.
You can increase the max beyond 100% in Orion's options.
Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 cores
You can increase CPU Stop the Engine When <150% but nothing else. This is not about stopping the audio engine that just about orion does not use the full power of 4 core processor. At 50% percent of four-core CPU usage begins to drop Orion and has more than 100% in their rate of consumption of power. As shown in the screenshot. Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresDo you start getting stuttering / pops / crackles when its u 100+ %? If not it could just be calculating the usage wrong internally in Orion (ie: only calculating for 2 cores rather then 4)
Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 cores
yes exactly! I have everything that you wrote when the Orion is 100% " start getting stuttering / pops / crackles when its u 100+ %" CPU: Phenom II X4 Sound card: Emu 1616 , Tannoy Precission 8D Ram: 4GB 1600Mhz OS: Windows 7 x64 Synth: Roland JP-8000

Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresOrion can use up to 8 cores. This doesn't mean an 8-core processor gives 8 time the performance, however. If e.g. the master bus has most of the load, using multiple cores accomplishes virtually nothing, as the master bus has to be processed serially after everything else has been rendered.
The maximum gain is achieved if all instruments used (+insert fx) have a similar CPU load, no sidechains are used (sidechains force a particular order of processing!) and the bus load is small. Try this: Create a new project and insert 4x TOXIC. Create a simple pattern and copy it three times. You should in fact see about 4x the performance versus using a single core. Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresI did a little test. I turned ten VST Zeta's on Orion and the same with the same preset and the same settings for FL Studio 9 CPU consumption was similar for about 70%, but occurred more rapidly in Orion cracksles / pop. Audio settings were the same. I tested it on 48khz and the latency of ten.
Is the problem is not in this that orion randomly spread on the core processes rather than see how best to deploy the processes? CPU: Phenom II X4 Sound card: Emu 1616 , Tannoy Precission 8D Ram: 4GB 1600Mhz OS: Windows 7 x64 Synth: Roland JP-8000

Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresworks fine here, all 4 cores getting even use
Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresok i understood what you are trying to say. basically he means that he cant use more than 50% cpu (in his case 4cores, 4*0.5 = 2cores) without audio cracking. Thus orions cpu meter hits 100+ when the taskmanager hits only 50%. So his point is that the remaining 50% is underused as orions cpu caps@50 I will confirm this and get back later...
Re: Orion 8.02 does not support more than 2 coresconfirmed. when orions cpu meter hits 100%, taskmanager cpu utilization is around 50%, thus the remaining 50% is underused. (although load is distributed across the 4cores via the 4 hardware threads) corei7 920 = 4cores, hyperthreading off=4 hardware threads,1thread/core
