Hi all
A remix I have been working on for a while has now decided it won't open in Orion. The program simply crashes when I try. The auto save will not work either. I cannot merge the song with a new song. I have tried deleting the most recent dlls I added from my plug ins folder with no joy. Any suggestions?
Running 8.02.

Re: What to do if a song will not open in OrionMost likely the file got corrupted. Happens if Orion crashes during saving, which result in the file not being written fully or correctly. If you have an auto-save option turned on, that might be your quickest salvation. If not, I suggest you try to contact Rich on email or PM here, and see if he can salvage your file. There's been more than few occasions that I know in the past when he did.

Re: What to do if a song will not open in Orionin the future, remember to backup files regularly.
Re: What to do if a song will not open in OrionYeah the autosave doesn't work either. I normally do save file version ssequentially but this was a moment of inspiration and I was in the moment so just had the one file. I'll get in touch with Rich
Re: What to do if a song will not open in OrionI remember in the past when Orion crash, you can find somewhere a file called like
MFC???.TMP for example: MFC64B.TMP Try to find this type of file in your harddrive. I don´t know if Orion 8.XX do the same, but try it! Something to remember: -I avoid to use DX plugins, VST works better ever. If a plugin works bad, don`t use it, change version or use a similar, because this can be a problem in the future. -Before save, stop everything!. Double kick over Orion stop button to be shure. -Is a pain, but, always write somewhere ALL the plugins instruments and effects you use it in a song, even Orion internal FXs. This can save your life in the future. And finally are you shure you save that song with Orion 8.02, and try it to open with 8.02. Because you could have many version of Orion and may be you are using the wrong version. Good Luck! Last edited by dmassive on Thu Aug 04, 2011 11:42 am, edited 1 time in total.

in what situation does this help, and what do you do with this list at that time?
Re: What to do if a song will not open in Orion
Several situations... 1. Bad Sounds. For example in the old Synth1 v1.07 have some presets that are couldn´t do it again, or sound bad in the latest version v1.12. Also in the past I made the mistake using Synth1 DX version. DX is not supported in the last version. So, if you have a .TXT with this info you can use exactly the instrument version you need and recover that magical sound that probably takes hours to make. 2. When you reinstall windows, probably you miss install some plugins. When you open Orion, it says "DK2.DLL" missing... may be is imposible to remember which plugin is that, especially when you work with many proyects. If you have a .TXT with that info will save your life! 3. Compatibily between Orion versions. You can recreate an old proyect if for some reason some plugins are not loaded or missing. 4. With a .TXT info, You always know what plugins works fine. This brings you more stability and works for hours without Orion crash. I hope it helps... "Pleeease, bring back ORION!"
