Appeared on my facebook page this site, and have had a look at two plugins (they are free)
This one, http://www.noisebud.se/?page_id=502 really does the job it says it does.
I just quickly added a kick, and a bassline. Slapped an instance of Lazy Kenneth on the bass, increased the Duck Amount to 9, and it works!

Re: noisebudNice vst. Adding to my collection...
But when I have a source for sidechaining (like a Kick) y prefer to use the CV82 compressor. "Pleeease, bring back ORION!"
Re: noisebudYeah, but the problem I have is, when I drop the kick for a bar, my bassline can go crazy when the source isn't playing.
I appreciate this is due to my limited understanding of the subject, however, that's not the point
Re: noisebudYep, my go-to for side chaining is the CV82 as well.
Steven - to fix your 'crazy bassline' issue, just use a second instrument as the source for the side chain and pull it's volume level to 0 on the mixer. I use the tomcat as my side chain and label it scKick in the mixer. That way if your actual kick stops for a bar, the side chain kick can keep the bass (or anything else) under control.
