Strange phase

Postby Suonoecomputer » Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:35 am

Hi everybody,
in the past I happened to record or create some sounds with a strange phase, but this for the moment surpasses them all ... I have never seen such a strange sound so far ... I don't even know how to interpret it ... You know what happened? (always if it is a phase ...)  Thanks.

Is there supposed to be sound in the video ? I'm not hearing anything (other YT videos have sound).

It looks like you have DC Offset there but I'm no expert.

I don't know what I'm supposed to be listening for in that finished work.

Anyway you can remove the DC Offset shown in your first video using Audacity.

I am not so sure DC Offset would fix this.

Image

1 is original.
2. is with DC Offset "fixed"

It's weird what would cause waveform to behave like this.
I can't tell if it's a phasing issue, or some weird filtering going on, even though, on its own, it sounds ok.
So, maybe there's really nothing to fix here.

Thanks everyone for the replies, that finished work is pretty much the waveform audio I posted (for Teksonic). If I can I try to perform an inverse operation, remove the plugins (from time to time) that I have inserted to try to see which is the plugin that created this strange result. Thank you.

Found, it's a reverb plugin, if I turn it off the track aligns itself in the traditional way ... Interesting ...

Reverb was causing this?

Never seen reverb doing that. That's good to know, I guess.

An experiment with Bitwig and poly synth with Early as reverb (or at least I think)... I tried so on the fly on a computer of my friend.

I'm still not sure what "this" was supposed to be ? The high pitched whine or ?

Fixing the DC Offset is always a good idea anyway. I assume you took the waveform off of YouTube ? What metering plugin did you use ?

Could it be Plugin Delay Compensation ? Turning off the reverb removed the delay ? Oh well at least problem solved....
