looping odd length sequences

Postby kuniklo » Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:53 pm

Sometimes in other hosts I like to set up sequences of odd lengths and run them alongside each other, like one sequence of 16 beats and another of 19. It seems that the Orion pattern sequencer really wants to line things up on bar boundaries though and if I draw out a row of 19 beat patterns they just overlap.

Any suggestions for a better way of doing this?

19+19+19+19 do them math and assign the length of the pattern.
Also dont forget to copy paste the notes.
Grid options inside piano roll put the highlight option to 19 to be sure where you have to paste your notes.

you don't have to stick to the grid which aligns notes to the grid. just press G (F12=keyboard has to be off) when in pattern editor or the little symbol on the right lower corner.

in Playlist CFG, set division to 1, then slide pattern along till it butts up against previous one, doesnt mattern what size each pattern is

you can also change time sig to suit if needs be.

yeah what he said.

I use varying odd pattern lengths all the time for interestin polyrhythms.
Set grid to 1 use arrow keys to move clips till they meet

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll try setting grid to 1.
