Say I have a 16 bar pattern. I expand the pattern to 32 bars, lasso the notes, click copy, set the Play Cursor to Bar 17, click paste. Shouldn't the notes then paste into bars 17-32?

No, things are always pasted in exactly the same position they were copied. It's what I was saying in my recent new thread - Orion doesn't seem to ever be able to read the current cursor position, except for playback.

Instead, hold CTRL and drag selected notes to copy them to the new location (ie. steps 16-32)

Sorry I lost track of this thread. Thanks for the replies. I know about the CTRL drag method but I always find it hard to keep the notes lined up, shaky hands I guess.

I'll look for your thread Bones. Is it me or does it seem logical for the pasted parts to go at the cursor?

It is certainly how all the software I use in my profession works. It would also be nice to be able to grab hold of the play-cursor and scrub through.

I'd vote for scrub as well.

The other drag is if you make a 32 length pattern, and copy the last notes of a 64 length pattern to it - you have to adjust length to 64 in the new pattern to drag the notes back into it, and reset it to 32 afterwards.

But by and large, if you keep your eye on the bass note and/or calculate that the darker lines on the grid is C above and B below - moving those chunks gets to be pretty easy. ;)

Bringing a few bars from, say, bar 150 to bar 1 of a new pattern is such a PITA that some kind of shortcut for this is absolute Nr. 1 on my personal Orion wishlist.
