Wavetable Modifiers?

Postby lyuboserafimov » Sat Feb 25, 2023 12:45 am

I'm not sure if that has been discussed before, I couldn't find it anyway. I think it would be incredibly useful to have wavetable modifiers/warp modes (not sure exactly what it's called). Kinda like what Vital and Serum have. Of course, just copying other synths isn't fun, but you guys know how to come up with a good plot twist, I'm sure :)))

Ok now you're talking. Something that would actually enhance and expand the range of sounds that DUNE 3 can make. 8)

What are they, and how do they work?

Basically, various algorithms that warp the wavetables. PWM and Sync would be the most basic examples. Something like that:

I'll be honest, I can't hear any difference.

If he soloed one osc and turned off the horrible fx, it might help

Yeah, it was a bit of a bad example, soundwise.

You can do some basic warping using Osc1 or 2 to scan a single cycle sample in Osc3.

Two of them use wavetables to essentially define the phase ramp that scans through Osc3.

The other uses Osc1 in sync mode to enable a synced version of whatever single cycle is in Osc3.

You can also use this approach to do phase distortion and waveshaping.
