Wave table (.wav) read and drag and drop import

Postby themachinelt » Sat Nov 26, 2022 6:13 am

Id love to see Dune to have such easy wavetable import like serum/phase plant. Also ability to import audio files as wavetables and read common wavetable .wav format :) and most important - drag 8 drop wavetable import :)

+1
Same would be useful for the sampler as well. It's a bit of a pain in the butt to go through the Edit menu, select import and then look for the folder you need. I know, it's not the worst thing in the world, we're a bit spoiled at this point, with so many things done right, but still :D

True, but doing it this way is a bit tedious :D I did convert 50+ tables from my serum collection and it took me way too long. Never doing it again :D

Any good source of wavatebles in .wt format btw?

I don't own Serum but I do have the demo installed and the factory wavetables are in .wav format so can be loaded into DUNE 3 with ease. Can Serum not export WTs in .wav format? (the demo does not allow saving)

Mark Holt's collection:

"The full package contains >2500 wavetables for DUNE(2+3)/SERUM/ICARUS/FALCON and compatibles as well as >2000 for BLOFELD and costs only £10 (with lifetime updates)".

There's also AKWF on GitHub with 66 WTs, all converted for D3 and ready for loading.

Unfortunately, the way GitHub works, you'll have to download the entire collection just to get that one folder.

>>> AKWF-FREE <<<

How to download from GitHub:
  • green button on top that says "CODE"
  • click on the bottom of that menu where it says "Download ZIP"
  • once it finishes downloading, just unpack it in "Documents / Synapse Audio / DUNE 3 / Wavetables"
    — Optionally, put it in a folder to make things tidy.
    — I have no idea where it goes on MacOS.

Yes they started out as .wav files but someone converted them to different WT formats.

I've had fun creating WTs from the single cycles over the years but most of them are just numbered so no indication of what you're going to get:

I suppose that can lead to to some happy accidents but unless you write down a description of the wavs you like or can remember them it's really just hit and miss. :?

There are also the Mu3eum wavs from hardware synths that have been around for ages. Those make great WTs as well or to simply use the 286 single wave forms.

True, they can, but I prefer having them all converted for ease of use.

Well, that should cover all of my needs really, thanks man.

Are they all WTs you've created or are some created by other people?

Some of them I converted, and some of them I found online. But they're all free.

I wouldn't see any problem uploading them as long as there are no copyright issues.

Just because something is free that doesn't mean we have the right to redistribute it....

SOme of these features were done since this "wishlist" original post. I just bought Dune3 yesterday and tried Dune 3.55 on mac os, and there does not appear to be any DRAG AND DROP import for wavetables yet, either from the main window of the vst or from the sub-mode wavetable editor window in dune3.

Also the file OPEN dialog only allows SINGLE FILE selection. Since it's possible to import individual single cycle wavs one at a time, it would sure make sense if I could drag 15 of them into the app and just have them loaded one per "frame" of the wavetable.

For example, I have folders full of things like "violin_01.wav" through "violin_32.wav", which makes up 32 single cycle wav files which when placed end to end become a wavetable that generates a very violin like series of single cycle frames wavetable sounds.

DUNE3.55 is truly amazing and probably has the most fun, easy and BEST wavetable editing I have yet encountered and I own like 10 wavetable synths.

There is a standalone app that let's you load individual wavs and save as a WT.

Its by Synapse, it about somewhere... I'll see if I can find a link
