Some Ideas for Future DUNE Versions

Postby Chill Science » Sat Nov 04, 2023 1:50 pm

Dear All,

Would it be a good idea to consider:

1. Adding a "Clear" button within each FX unit (Distortion, FX BUS 1, FX BUS 2, LFOs) just as the 'Clear' button inside each MSEG which would reset all parameters to default?

2. Adding a "Clear" button to ARP 1 and ARP 2 to reset ARP sequences

3. Adding a 'Copy' and a 'Paste' button to ARP 1 and ARP 2 allowing copying the full Arpeggios betweeen themselves

4. Copying an Apeggio's 8 visible steps between (1 - 8 | 9 - 16 | 17 - 24 | 25 - 32 ) thus allowing quick repetition & subsequent subtle edits for longer arpeggios where one has to go back to the previous 8-note ARP to see what notes were used and then manually replicate? In relation to point #2 above this would allow copy/paste of ARP blocks within ARP 1 and also even between ARP 1 and ARP 2.

5. A spectrum analyser displayed in the background of EQ 1 and EQ 2's current frequency control area, superimposing EQ control lines/dots within the analyser (this is a nice to have, understanding there are many EQs/analysers out there hence R&D spending on this topic would not be good idea)

6. When opening the menus which contain the vertical listing of available filters, make the filter type headings Bold (currently shows ''--Clean Multimode--'', ''--Expander--'', ''--Comb--'', etc - these are not very readable (poor eyesight here), maybe Bold font or even a nicer display with rectangular edges around the filter types (just an idea)

7. When using the Mod Matrix, let's say you drag a crosshair onto a target as the first step in setting up a modulation entry. You then choose the amount and then finally you choose the Source. Would there be a benefit, when choosing any of the following sources (LFO 1, LFO 2, LF0 3, MSEG 1, MSEG 2, MSEG 3, MSEG 4) to automatically open the relevant tab at the bottom i.e. LFOs tab or MSEG 1,2,3,4 tab? This means from choosing a modulation source to actually editing the modulators there would be no need to click the relevant tab to display the modulator controls. Basically the UI would respond to the users' desire to control the modulators after choosing those modulators as a source. Obviously this could be a problem in that maybe the user does not actually want this to happen so really this is a minor time saver.

8. Next to each EQ, a button allowing resetting EQ parameters all to default (there is a little column to the left of the EQ controls which could possibly fit a button with a 'Clear' icon on it, actually that column could fit 3 buttons and one such button could even allow a further new EQ feature: "Save" and "Load" EQ parameters. So the "Save" icon/button would be at the top, then the "Load" icon/button" and finally the "Clear" button/icon. Or right-clicking the EQ area to show a context menu offering such functionalities.

Obviously these are polite suggestions based on experience using DUNE and by no means am I pointing out any issues with the product, rather thoughts when going about producing audible delights.

Thank You

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your reply, as always I am very excited to hear about the newest release and certainly this is the same feeling across the user community.

Also, it's always the case that, when browsing the various online forums about software synthesizers, DUNE 3 comes up as THE best-sounding synthesizer.

It's a pleasure to be able to provide feedback here.

Many Thanks
