It'd be nice to assign Orion's button-type controls to buttons on controllers like the Triggerfinger.

Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsThe Main Toolbar seems to be disconnected from everything else, i.e. you don;t seem to be able to do anything with any part of it from outside, so it may not be an easy thing to do.

Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsIsn't this supposed to come in v8?
Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsIt's possible to add it, but it's rather useless in practice. Orion can't be used efficiently without mouse/kb nearby. For instance, if you want to record, how do you even arm the right track in the arranger without the mouse? Granted, I got excited about those transport controls on my korg controller, but the excitement didn't last when I thought about how I'd use that in practice :superlol:

Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsI keep my Trigger Finger handy and it has 16 big rubber buttons. If I could assign them, I could just bop 'em with my mouse hand (it's right next to it) to arm record - then I could hit another to play, wait for the countdown, and play out my rhythms on the other pads.

Link transport controls to button-type midi controls+1 i'd like this too. my remote has transport buttons that dont do anything in orion.
Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsWhere I see it being useful is on stage. Sure, i have to use the keyboard to open the next song but it would be nice to turn back to my controller [I usually have the PC facing the side of the stage] before pressing play. Using the Transport Controls on my KB37 would allow me to play something before the song starts without having to focus on the laptop and controller at the same time. It really would be very handy.

Ooooh this isn't good news. I was really looking forward to being able to use my Axiom's transport buttons to control Orion. It's not just about record but playback, forward, reverse ,loop on/off. I find it very useful in hosts that allow this function. Sure you'll still need a mouse but being able to control transport without moving your hands from the midi keyboard is very helpful. To just allow Orion's transport buttons to respond to Midi CC's would be a great solution because you could use anything that sends midi CC's such as a Trigger Finger, Nano Kontrol etc. Last edited by Teksonik on Sat Mar 07, 2009 1:56 am, edited 1 time in total.

Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsOn 21 Oct 2007 Jouni said.............
Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsThe MIDI In overhaul is fully in progress, and much more has been achieved already in Orion 8 than Jouni had in mind in 2007. MIDI recording in song mode, pedal/aftertouch/pb/modwheel go into clips now where they belong, MIDI maps/templates for any generator, effect or VST, the ability to do all this for multiple MIDI In devices/channels, and finally the MIDI controller dialog for overview and to unlink parameters.
The MIDI Out overhaul has become obsolete meanwhile, for two reasons. First, the quality of VST plugins has improved dramatically. Second, the pathetic MIDI timing under Windows Vista makes it impossible to produce commercial-grade music using external gear: http://forum.synapse-audio.com/view ... hp?id=6043 Admin - Synapse Audio Software
