Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsThe advantage is that the transport controls are right at your finger tips on the midi controller. No need to reach for the mouse, no need for qwerty keyboard shortcuts. I find it very useful but of course if someone doesn't have a controller with transport buttons it will be useless.

Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsThat's possible too, but not necessarily supported by all devices, and also tied to the MIDI clock, so it may not work as desired using it merely for start/stop.

1. You have armed a track to record but your MIDI controller is not positioned handily for you to start recording, so it would be handy to move to where you can play it, then press play. 2. On stage, you don't want to be hiding behind your PC screen, so you have it off to one side. You load up the next song but you don't want to press play until the band is ready, particularly if you don;t need the sequencer from the very beginning of a song, as is the case with a few of ours. At least you can get away from the PC before you have to press start from your controller so you are facing the audience while you wait. In fact, I will link it to a footswitch so that I can start playing and "press play" with my foot when I want the sequencer to start, without having to take a hand away from the keyboard. BTW Teksonik, I have the same Eclipse keyboard you do. The backlighting is very handy. Dell G7 (Hexa-Core i7)|Cubase Pro 10||Analog Keys|Ultranova|MicroMonsta|Uno|Skulpt|Craft Synth 2.0|

Yes very handy. Allows one to work without any extra lighting. Never thought of using a footswitch to send CC's to the transport. That would work really well when recording guitar. Frees up both hands to be in position ready to record. I'll have to give it a go.
Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsMy KB37 has two footswitch/pedal inputs. It was one of the things that attracted me to it. I currently have one set-up to mute/unmute GearBox and the other to increment to the next GearBox preset, so I can use it for vocal effects, but I'd happily sacrifice one to start/stop.

Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsits MMKD syndrome
Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsOk I'll bite. What's MMKD syndrome?
Link transport controls to button-type midi controlsah ha i was beginning to wonder what ever happened to human curiosity?
In MMKD = Moving Mouse by Kilometer Distance syndrome, one begins to experience the fatigue caused by traveling over large distances, by the mouse motion action. in other words when you move the mouse it feels like you moved kilometers and this causes a great fatigue and energy loss. thus productivity is decreased inversely. extreme effect of MMKD would be moving the mouse from the diagonal end of a large screen to the transport buttons, which could be fatal and result in death! A glorious death however as you died on the field like a soldier making music.
