Ok guys,
Working again on a track with Orion, browsing through a folder with 100+ samples of 4-5 second long sweep/swoosh sounds.
Placing them in a audio track for accurate and direct VISUAL placement.
But now it's a laborious trial and error game finding the right file.
Please, please, please; can audio track file preview be added to Orion?
Its such a small addition that could improve Orion sooo much.
Best regards,
CC
PS:
Already passed the station of getting in a discussion that concluded in me using Orion in the wrong way etc. etc. This just would help me and others a LOT.

Keith Murray, Da Muzicianz, Ying Yang Twins, Big Omeezy Beat Maker.
Audio file preview for audio tracks.I just usually use the drumrack, too, or even another app for that matter.
The thing with some audiotracks is there could be silence at the beginning, so you'd have to wait, so at that time you could just add the track to see it and scroll through. Last edited by Shadx on Mon Apr 06, 2009 7:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Audio file preview for audio tracks.Ok, guys:
I devised a temporary fix: - Download and install program "clickymouse" http://www.pitrinec.com/clickymouse.htm - Paste code below in windows notepad and save as whatever.txt mt: 0 n: context d: e: 1 if: ii: 0 trnms: 1 at1trt: 2 at1me: 0 at1mb: 1 at1mc: 0 at1mk: 0 at1mk-m: 0 at1mm: 0 at1fgs: 0 o-bkm: 0 oc: 0 os: 3 or: 1 ot: 0 osp: 0 scope: 0 osp-o: 0 osp-o-un: osp-o-pwd: osp-o-d: oa: 0 ou: 0 m: <wx>(500)<mrbd><wx>(125)<mrbu><mousemove_relative_pos><mm>(40,40)<mlbd><wx>(140)<mlbu><mousemove_relative_pos><mm>(-40,-40) {end-of-item} - Import this macro into the program. - When browsing for audio track samples, keep 'control' key on Keyboard pressed and left click on audio sample you want to preview. It will be played in the default .wav player. It actually opens the context menu and clicks the second item in this menu. But this happens in milliseconds. - Quickest workflow is to assign media player classic as default player for .wav files etc. FINISH! - Now let's see if I can find a freeware macro program that can also use keyboard strokes to trigger macro's. Cursor arrow down + 'control' key would be the ideal trigger Best Regards, CC Last edited by ccpurno on Mon Apr 06, 2009 9:22 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Audio file preview for audio tracks. If it's going to be that much trouble you might as well just have an explorer window open if you're going to be using an external audio player...

AutoIt : http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/index.shtml why is it not possible to use the sampler ? you want to preview in the context of the song : write a long enough C5 note in the piano roll of your sampler set the loop on play your song and browse all your samples when you finaly find the right sample import it as an audio track for accurate and direct VISUAL placement. delete the sampler am i wrong ? Of course, it would depend on what I was doing with these samples, but.. in this situation, personally, I would just load them all into a playlist in Windows Media Player and start playing through the list, noting those I liked with pen and paper, maybe with a few brief notes for some of them "sharp and tangy" or something.

Since it's not there, it's called "find your own damn way" So, for previewing, either use DrumRack and Sampler, of open files in the external player. Not a hard decision. Last edited by HYPNAGOGIA on Tue Apr 07, 2009 12:37 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Audio file preview for audio tracks.I remember using Little Drummer Boy ages ago as a .wav previewer..
While I see the benefit you're aiming for in AT preview, I wonder if it's overall useful. Generally by the time I'm using an AT, it's to drop in a long, pre-mastered chunk of a song and it's already labeled and ready. If it's just a long sample, I'm with ccarrieres as far as the Sampler/DrumRack approach - that's what it's for, and it does have the preview option. Plop in a sampler, set max Release and set it to "Production" quality, pick your sample and voila. Phreque.com - Weapons-Grade Awesome.
