Move AutomationI can assure you FK, it's not at a standstill. Rich is working hard coming up with new features, which are then tested and discussed by the beta testers. If something isn't up to scratch and/or needs a better implementation Rich goes back to work and comes back with something (usually) better. It's all go go go I can tell you.
Move AutomationI like all the bells and whistles of OP8 too. But I'm more for doing simple things 'simple'. I think OP's like 90% there as it is. But some of these things is getting 10 years old now. So if the future can't open the front door, Rich should open the back. It's what got me in the OP house in the first place.
History ALWAYS repeats itself.
Move AutomationNot always, Steven, especially when it comes to the "10 years old stuff"
For example, there will be changes both to the instrument and effect sections. Rich is really putting efforts on those now, making everything sound better than before for the new version. So, if you won't say that history becomes forgotten, you could say that future looks bright ahead SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Move AutomationWow! I've always liked OP's output in that regard. Nice EQ's, effects and Busses always clear. Never had a issue there personally.
But better sound and not better actions? That's kinda like installing a new stereo in a Ferrari with a flat tire isn't it? I wanna DRIVE this puppy, dammit!

not always quite that smooth, but yes Rich has been putting out betas recently Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Move AutomationOne thing I've never understood - which I think adds difficulty to any aspect of trying to use
Or improve automation - is that too many cpu cycles are wasted filling in the blue area under the contour of what could be a simple black line with the ability to add or subtract nodes . When I first used Orion on a Windows 98 machine - I would sit and wait for this big blue area to be filled in every time I made a small change - then half way though - Crash ! Not as bad now of course, but I don't see that it serves any pupose. If you could just have different different colored lines every time you add an (AT ? ) - you could turn on or off the editing and/or the view of any single parameter or device with a drop down list, and still be able to see everything you need at once in the same window. I love drawing automation in Live (Sorry!) But honestly even Acid was better because you could add nodes then drag the line between them up or down and it would change with a bezier curve type behavior. Never had even a stutter on Win98. It would also be great to set slected nodes to Lock on on any quantitised point ( like the high or low points you want to hit) Seems like that would make editing and moving sections around a lot easier. I realize this is a little off the point of what you guys were discussing - but (for me !) that big blue area is really an elephant in the room - can't even think logically about an improvement in automation till that changes - because that means you pretty much can only see one thing at a time or you have to deal with resizing and lining up the separate windows to keep things in relation. (sure you could have transparent blue but then you'd have mud if you want to see something else in the same window). Also I'm not too sure the whole LFO concept is that valuable - The shapes your'e starting with aren't what you really want to begin with - then you have to hack away with phase - scale and offset - ( fade is always tempting, but the peaks never end up were you want them.) If that had to be sacrificed to have smooth and efficient "Grokable" automation I wouldn't miss it . I would much rather grab a node , drag it, and listen to what it sounds like - but one good example of lfo overkill that actually works is the ( for Yamaha) ANX-1 Edit - which makes it simple to create repeating sections you can stretch, scale, copy, or cut, and everything stays in the same basic shape for the area youv'e selected . Re: Move Automationwhat i think that is really annoying is that when you work in a big project you just don't know anymore which control you automated or not i think AT would still give a good solution. the minimize option would be the best (even if it takes time to recreate the playlist system).

Re: Move Automationi know but you still have to search trough all the instruments/patterns ect. so its helping but not a solution...

Re: Move Automation
you should rememebr what youve done then having a huge amount of automation in the playlist isnt going to help you if you cant remember what you've automated, you will still have to trawl thru it all to find something Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Move AutomationAutomation does need to be addressed, but placing automation in the play list it so fl studioish. Its a horrible way to work it just adds useless clutter to the play list. Automation needs to be linked to the pattern it was created for and move with said pattern viewed via the patterns piano roll events.
Re: Move Automationi almost never use pattern-based automation, and generally speaking I like the Event editor approach. There are some adjustments that could make it easier to use in various situations.. but mostly I just wonder what it is other people are doing that makes it so horrible for them.
Re: Move Automation
why? automation in song mode is just as important. pattern based automation is ok for boring repetative stuff. Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM

Re: Move AutomationThey are def 2 different concepts, and both can be very handy.
I think this discussion is concerned with song automation only. ---=u f o=--- /Radiation Mutant / Snee-Nee-Iq
