I hear you Teksonik... It's sick and depraved and totally exigent to the point of moral less apathy...
But I'm eyeing them too.

Orion portable...I personally have no interest in a laptop. I spend enough time in front of computers as it is.
Orion portable...Sorry for my late response, I was doing my job yesterday.
I'm happy to see the topic gained a little more interest. I'll try to answer to post by post to you all, because I can't be here a lot of in a day! So the first guy is "harddisco". I haven't tried pspseq yet, but if I'll get some time then I will! But I want orion on psp!!! I was tested rythm on ps, but that's a real toy I say. I also tried to create some music with my old ps1 friend: mtv:music gen. but that app was good when I was a young boy. The second post is from "Kriminal". I've bought a very high quality notebook, with excellent parameters, so I don't wish to buy a a "calculator" to play in my windows. I prefer playstation from all of the consoles, and portables since the sony released the first ps. But that story is belong to another topic... The third and the longest message was sent by "Hypnagogia". I've found good mastering in orion is quite difficult since the first orion releases. If I had a project to label, then I usually exported the channels seperated from orion in high quality and dropped then into nuendo in the early ages of producing. Later I used acid, and nowadays ableton. I'll do you what you asked me for. I will create some loops for you and I'll write down the links for that in the afternoon. The box like sound means stereo enhancement problems to me. I usually put stereo widen, linear EQ, and compressor/limiter plugins on each track to make the sounds more life-like. I have alesis m1 active mk2 speakers, a homemade sound-proof room and some external sound cards. I'm working as a developer too. Sometimes I create websites, cgi-animations, plc programs, c# small apps, music and so much more, and we should not forget to speak about learning the news in programming languages, or being with family and girlfriend... I was just try to explain that I really understand orion's programmer, especially that he's working alone! I really hope that Synapse Audio grows bigger and more, because the company meant a lot of us! Orion is far the best sequencer, and editor in the market. I do not wish to attack the app, or the company. I like to help for myself, and for all of you too! I think FL is good for learning, Reason is good to connect the devices for an hour or two, and then you noticed that you not produced anything useful. Cubase, Cubasis, Nuendo is quite good for live recorded instruments but I don't prefer their interfaces. Acid and Ableton are good hosts, but editting midies with them is not the best, and Acid is not optimalised well... Orion's organic or naturally sounds are true, but only I've found some mistakes (if I can call them that) in stereo enhancement... I've some releases... Not too much, but I've begin to learn and create music electronically on commodore 64 when I was 6-7 years old. I can learn to play on every instrument within a day or two (didgeridoo is very hard to learn ). Most of the artists I know, who use orion to produce music, exports the channels to a final mastering. That's not a problem, but life can be more easier without doing this! If somebody knows how to finalise a track in orion, then please tell me the technique! Maybe I don't know something important. I will send you some links to demos of mine! That's what all I can write for now to you! I'll create and upload the demos and the specification notes for them in the late afternoon! Thanks for the lot answers, and posts! Be good until afternoon! Bye, LuX
Orion portable...stereo widen effect in orion is useless to me. whenever i tried to used it it makes the sound shitty. i think something is wrong with that effect, so i never use it. better to use external stereo widening effect. hey! i have the same monitors for a year now. only that one of them blew 3 weeks back...so i sent it for repair and should get it soon. i like these monitors. yep me too
Orion portable...
insert your effects, i don't see the problem ... Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Orion portable...I`ve got an Atari 65xe that still working. Please, can you port Orion for it. POKEY sounds very classic our days...

thanks for defining 'box like', I really had no idea what you were talking about. By 'each track', I assume you mean each mixer channel? Stereo Widen on every channel is a really bad idea. I've played around with it quite a bit and don't like the way it sounds; I'd probably never use it on one. Occasionally I use the Stereo Pan/Width, to decrease the width of something like an organ with an exaggerated leslie effect. There's some discussioon the thread 'making mixes wider (trance) how? that might be worth looking at. It gets derailed by a post about 3D audio that's unrelated, though. Orion portable...I know you're just joking, but I was too intrigued to not look up that midi adapters were made for the Atari XE systems. Don't know if they accept midi in. That'd be interesting.
Orion portable...

Orion portable...Orion runs quite well for me on old, tiny laptops. Certainly well enough to use as an idea sketchbook. Why not do just that?

Orion portable...I have a steam-powered Vaio TR1MP, and was shocked to find that Orion works beautifully on it. Seriously, the overheads incurred by Orion are stupidly low. No idea how it's done. Amazingly clever.
For the record, FL just stuttered and died, leaving a trail of mouse cursors across the screen. I haven't bothered trying anything else on it. Someone mentioned an iPhone App: whereas it may not make shedloads of money for the guys, it may help increase brand awareness. Whether or not that's worth Rich and Jouni's time and trouble is another matter though... Incidentally, I got the Korg DS-10 on my Nintendo DS. I sometimes use that for sketching ideas down, but haven't yet found a way to port the music data across to my PC!
Orion portable...Ok, prepare to compare
http://strony.aster.pl/peterskymusic/co ... arison.rar The archive contain two export Wavs - 48khz in 24bit One from Orion, one from Ableton Live. The same notes, the same instruments, the same mastering effects : ch1. Bass - Triangle II ch2. Chords - Firebird + ch3. Loop (in Orion from Sampler, in Ableton from Session View) ch4. Kick (in Orion from Drum Rack, in Ableton from Impulse) Master - George Yohng's W1 Limiter (exact the same settings in both hosts) Conslusion ?
Orion portable...Sounds same to me. Technically, the loop fired in Ableton might be processed by their timestretching, not sure if that could make a difference.
Regarding effect/generator quality, some stuff in Orion dates back to the very first version in 2000. I plan to gradually remove/replace that, as it is outdated to an extent that makes it almost useless. Of course, I will consider backwards compatibility (before anyone starts to worry). Orion portable...I hear a little difference, but this is nothing more like abelton has maby more precized normalizing process than an Orion has. Just it. But if You pay more attention on master's EQ and Gain, You'll get even better result. Everything in Orion is on Your hand. Yes, that makes mastering a little bit harder, but I am very thankful to Richard that Orion is based on this way of mastering possibilities and not other (I hate Abelton!)
