Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?Respect Bones but selecting long sequences with the lasso tool is almost like watching paint dry , we all have different workflow routines when using Orion and i'm sure that many of us would use the "Select all" function if it was implemented in the application ,Rich, chime in on this thread and tell us your thoughts on this.

Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?Zooming out would speed things up with selecting notes, if that helps

Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?I always do it zoomed out , it's still slow.
Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?Doesn't seem that slow if you zoom out, especially when you don't have to switch to the select tool to do it.
With the pencil tool selected, hold CTRL key and drag around the notes to select the notes, and while the CTRL key is still pressed, you can move the selected notes to make duplicates... or do whatever it is you want to do with them. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?Problem with Zooming out on a big track is maybe missing the first few notes of it all. Happened to me on a few occasions, I get it pasted and all, and it's out of sync and melody. You really have to make sure you get that cursor in the first and uppermost grid box. Like threading a needle really.
Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?mostly for me I want to select all notes except for some. if it was for ctrl + a this would be much easyer...

Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?No it wouldn't, because there is no way to selectively deselect some notes once you have them all selected. So what you would need is far more complex than a simple "select all", you'd need the selection behaviour modified considerably, possibly requiring an entire rewrite of that code? I prefer fast and simple, it leaves me plenty of time to be fiddly when I need to.
Why? It's not how Orion is designed to work, so it your own fault that it causes you problems. That said, I can zoom out to see almost 2000 steps, so it's still not an issue. Orion v8 will allow you to easily zoom out with the scroll-wheel, so you won't have to repeatedly press the "-" button, which will make your life a lot easier, I imagine. I still believe that if I needed to work with 2000 step patterns, I would not be using Orion and I don't think it's smart for Rich to make it easier for people to use the product in such a way. Development should concentrate on what Orion does best, not try to cater for extreme use cases. That way mediocrity lies. Hows about a "Select All" option in the piano roll ?Good idea about the subdivisions Bones, but is there a way to make the default other than 16?
If you do a ctrl + c without any notes highlighted and then do a ctrl + v in a pattern with some notes it pastes the new notes but removes the old notes. How do you keep these old notes without having to use the lasso? I would like to see: ctrl + a to select all the notes and then ctrl + lasso to deselect highlighted notes not wanted or add unhighlighted notes.

Rich has improved Orion (in the Beta), so now you can easily record long patterns, and they are expanding (in the Playlist). This will support and encourage more the general and traditional recording, when a musician records his play. This leaves to long patterns. Improving the editing functions for short and long patterns is already and will be even more desired. For example we can't split patterns into pieces, this would be crucial for long patterns editing. Also the Ctrl+A shortcut is freely available, the asked feature has merit. And the addition of it won't bother anyone who doesn't need it.

Indeed +1 You don't HAVE to use it and some people really would like it! Last edited by matthy on Sat Oct 24, 2009 12:31 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Possibly, but it will hide from any new users the fact that it is completely unnecessary 99% of the time, which will make Orion appear less simple than it really is. i.e If CTRL+A is there to select all, everyone will believe you have to use it. That would be a shame and I really don't see that it's worth doing for that reason alone. Dell G7 (Hexa-Core i7)|Cubase Pro 10||Analog Keys|Ultranova|MicroMonsta|Uno|Skulpt|Craft Synth 2.0|
