Hi,
I tried to beef up the bassdrum with a distortion insert effect. Since the distortion cuts off the low-end, I wanted to mix it with some of the dry singnal. Unfortunately, there's no wet/dry control with distortion effects.
I helped myself first by using fx send rather than an insert. Then by using a multifx in parallel mode with an empty effect #2. The latter was an improvement because I could control the dry/wet ratio directly and saved an fx return, but still somewhat awkward.
Thus, I believe dry/wet controls also make sense with distortion.

Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxfind a vst distortion that has wet/dry controls, there are lots out there (good free ones too)
Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxTry using Orions saturation instead of distortion.

Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxWhy not just put the distortion on a Send/Return knob and mix in that way?
Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxThanks for all the kind replies. Yes, one can use multifx, send/return or simply chose a 3rd party distortion that does have a dry/wet control. No real problem here.
I just wanted to add a dry/wet control for Orion's distortion to the wish list, because in my opinion it does make sense, but it's not there. No big deal anyway.
Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxput the distortion unit on a mixer buss and blend your direct ch signal with distorted buss ch signal.

Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxIn your particular example, you would be better off using the Two-Band Distortion and not ramping up the drive on the low end. I don't see why we would want Rich to waste his time on such an easily solved problem when there are so many more important things to be done.

Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxDon't you have a distortion plug at your site Bones? I know you like the analog one on OP. But it's a wonder you haven't tried your own dISTO kILLER vst effect?
This is my fave distortion. You might be interested too Varta http://www.smartelectronix.com/~bram/plugins.php?id=3
Dry/Wet control with distortion/clipper efxI have never been happy with any of the distortion stuff I have heard or made using SynthEdit. I am also a huge fan of Two-band Distortion and the AD1 distortion in Orion, so it's not something I feel is worth wasting time on.
