Points presented in decreasing priority
I. Saving/loading a complete mixer channel preset ( this is the most most imp option for me )
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ability to save all points 1,2,3 below from the mixer channel as one 'prs' file. Basically you should be able to save
1. all mixer knob positions including sends and eq
2. insert slots. this must also save nested chains, like multifx/bandfx. and also vst fx's in them, not just native ones
3. Saving the generator/vst attached to the mixer channel. obviously the preset of the generator/vst should be saved too inside the mixer prs.
Once this comes you can reuse your sounds from other sfs and this makes your life much much much easier. i cannot stress what a breather this will be.
II. Fix Automation bugs
-------------------------
1. band/multifx holder slots automations dont work. must be able to automated nested holders
2. fx copy/paste/drag automations dont work
III. Fix whatever bugs in V7. They should not reappear in V8.
IV. Skinning
------------------------------------
1. Provision of multiple skins from atleast 2 professional artists. If one of them sucks ass, the other one can hopefully provide a better one.
2. Tools: Instructions on how to skin orion and perhaps a UI of sorts to help facilitate skinning. This will hide all those messy text files and present them nicely via ui property sheet controls.
V. Improve Audio files handling
------------------------------------
Fix the loading of largest contiguous audio chunk: 24bit/96khz files sometimes wont load in orion, because a contiguous large memory block is not found. The loader must be able to work with non-contigious memory blocks rather than one large chunk.

ever thought about offering to help code it with Rich, you seem to have a lot of DEMANDS that urgently need addressing, why not give him a hand? you can code stuff, right? while you're at it, why not offer to pay for the 'professional artists' to do the skins you ask for? sounds resonably to me, what do you think?

I believe this has been added to version 8 in the form of track templates. At least I hope so.
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)
Yes
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)Yep.... point 1 definatelly sounds like templates. Although, templates save an entire song as one, not just "selected" tracks. So if you want something excluded from the template, you have to remove it from the project.
As for the skinning, I don't see what's the problem. Everyone has an option to make a skin. And tools? Like Rich doesn't have better things to do. Seriously, Suneel, you just gave yourself a possible project, if you're interested. SoundCloud ::: Facebook

What? That makes no sense. I thought you can save entire instruments with settings etc.
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)
I hope that's not true.

What doesn't make sense? What is a song file? Doesn't it save all your instruments, effects, settings, arrangements? So why couldn't that be used as a template? You just leave what you want in it and save it as template, which you can revoke at any later point in the project.
It is. SoundCloud ::: Facebook

kind of you can say, pick a Wasp from a song, that is set up just how you really like, dleted everything else from that song, and save it as a Template you can of course, start from scratch, and save that as a Template a template can be as simple just saving one instrument (for example, i have saved the xr-909 stereo cos it wont be in V8 except for backwards compatibility, and i prefer it to the alternative) of course, Templates fail on the SEND part, you cant save 10 'mixer strips' and load them if they all have diff FX on the SEND (the fx still load, but wont be assigned) so, its swings and roundbouts there is also 'song merge'...but thats another kettle of problems that many ppl have asked for and i fail to see the point of Windows 11 Home - 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12400 2.50 GHz -32GB RAM
250GB SSD - 1TB HDD | M-Audio Oxygen 25 V
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)you can select single instruments from previous projects with the merge function.
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)Hmmmm guess I'll have to wait and try it for myself. So you're telling me that if I'm working on something that has say 10 tracks and I suddenly hit upon a sound that I really like for my guitar and want to save those settings (effects eq settings etc) I have to stop, save the song, delete all the other tracks in the song, save that as a song, then reload the original piece? Please tell me that is not correct.
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)It is.
But maybe easier would be to, save, hit "New" from the file menu, open merge, import what you want, save as template, resume what you were previously doing. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)Or File/Export/Track Template. (Not in Orion)
Can one of the Beta Testers tell me if Midi CC control over the transport buttons has been added to Orion 8?
v8 top priorities (Richard kindly glance)Or File / Save as Template (in Orion, making it even easier).
Don't be so vague. The real question here is how do you select what you want saved as a Template. Rich solved it this way. Not sure about the transport CC controls, I think it's in. But don't hold me for word, I don't have gears to test it. Last edited by HYPNAGOGIA on Sun Dec 13, 2009 12:08 am, edited 1 time in total.
