In arrange-window as well as in Pianoroll-View some People want to scroll horizontal some vetrical.
It would be usefull to give the user the option in what direction scrolling is applied to.

Re: Defining Scroll-BehaviourCTRL+MW scrolls horizontally on mixer/master, PianoRoll and Playlist.
MW function works on knobs/slider on mixer and master, as vertical scroll in Pianoroll, and as pattern changer (when the pointer is hovering over a pattern). On the other hand, Shift+CTRL+MW works as horizontal zoom on playlist, but not in the PianoRoll. It got messed up since the knobs got MW support a few RC's back, and I'm bugging Rich and Marcin to put them back in. I kind of can't believe these hasn't been made to work for the release. Re: Defining Scroll-Behaviour
Aahh, OK, but the question is if it would be better as a unique alternativ in prefernces or as a key-combination. I personally don't change the scroll behaviour often. It also depends on the complexity of a song/arrangement.
Re: Defining Scroll-BehaviourAs far as I know, you have never been able to change how the MW behaves, since it was always hardcoded into Orion. If it was possible to change how it works, no one would ever know what it does, and you'll always find it doing exactly what you don't want. What would be best if these were made constant, without any ability to change how and in what combination a MW reacts.
Up/Down MW movement is a standard for vertical scrolling. In every application you can find, this is exactly what and how it works, and as such should work here - Playlist, Pianoroll, and added mixer/master knob and slider movements. This currently doesn't work in the Playlist, it can only change patterns, and it used to be able to do both. Since most mouses don't have left/right tilt buttons on the MW or a second MW to use, obviously horizontal scrolling should be with a key combination. Right now it's CTRL+MW, which is fine, in my opinion. Works on the mixer, in playlist and piano roll. Perfect Zooming is another story. I can bet that 99% of users here don't change the vertical zoom that often for it to require a MW combination, but most of us will always use horizontal zooming. The CTRL+Shift+MW combination currently works only in Playlist. In addition, you can use the Navigation Bar to zoom horizontally. However, it doesn't work in the Piano Roll, and it doesn't have a NaviBar to use with MW, which is becoming a major PITA (the H-zooming MW key combo, not the lack of NaviBar) since you always have to go for those tiny buttons next to the scrollbar every time you're working in the PR. Making them that way, in my opinion, would make all the combination constant. You can always know that particular combination will do exactly what it's meant to do, and you'll get no confusion. I was bugging about this, and will continue to bug about it over at the beta forum. We'll see how it goes. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Defining Scroll-Behaviour
Confusing functions are always not good. The great advantage of Orion is the simpliness of use combined with what is under the hood. So you can concentrate on sounds and compositions and beeing not disturbed by hundrets of mailfunctions. Regarding this concept, defining the scroll behaiour in prefernces would be fine, because its set once for all and therefore no diffussion of which behaviour in which window etc.
Re: Defining Scroll-BehaviourThat would give you too many parameters to set, and would instantly make the Preferences dialog larger, thus bringing confusion to all who ever venture there.
I still think it would be better if it's hard-coded in Orion, like now, but consistently, with only two missing behaviors added. SoundCloud ::: Facebook
Re: Defining Scroll-BehaviourI love that little cursor in firefox that when you click the mouse wheel it comes up with a little ball with directions on it and you moe the mouse where you want it to scroll
depending where you click in a page or the scroll bars it goes in both axis Just sayin
Re: Defining Scroll-Behaviour
Good idea, I think ! In other hosts, for example from a firm from Hamburg, you can move the mouse left and then scroll vertical or move the mouse down and then scroll horizontal.
