Dune 3 Envelope times and parameter display

Postby slush » Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:52 am

I want to create a sound that is 1 second long. (1000ms)
I want to set an Amp Envelope attack time to 4ms. When I adjust the knob, I see a tool tip showing me a percentage.

Can someone explain to me a little bit about the filter/amp envelope? What are the percentages of, exactly?

If I want my attack to be 4ms, I would have to set the percentage to .04% for a 1 second long sound, right?
I can't figure out how to do this. Maybe I am missing a way to double-click the knob so I can set that value.
I am sure I am over complicating this but a little help would be appreciated.
I am assuming the behavior of the controls for the AMP and FILTER env are the same :)

Anyway, if someone could tell me how to approach creating a 1 second sound with an attack time of 4ms, I'd appreciate it!

Thank you!

The percentage of the knob's range. 0-100% Minimum to Maximum.

My advice is to ignore the numbers and program by ear. Adjust the Attack knob until you get the sound you want then move on to the Decay and Sustain.

I almost never look at the readouts. :)

Also try turning the Analog Envelopes on/off. They'll give you different results.

"The analog switch can be used to create more punchy envelopes, typical for some vintage-analog
synthesizers. The effect is particularly noticeable for short attack times".
