Hey, folks!
Firstly, excuse me for my English, I'm not a native speaker. And I'd like to say a huge thanks to Richard and Mark for their incredible DUNE 3. God, I'm in love with it.
Have a question about Genetics:
1. About legal rights — If I created a bunch of patches using the Genetics function, are they considered as mine or do they belong to their respective owners, whose work in patch building has been involved? For example — a patch X is made of three already-made presets from Kevin, Mark, etc → something completely new, which I like, appears in the patch browser. I tweaked filters, osc, and mod matrix a little to the state it feels like an entirely new patch. But I didn't make it from the scratch but used previous work and knowledge of different sound designers. May I call them «mine» and use them in future music on major platforms (I'm a hobbyist in music production and don't make any money from it)? I think the answer is no, but correct me if I'm wrong.
2. Idk is it a bug of a feature, but I can't make more than 1 patch in a row in Genetics using previously made presets from the genetics function. Every time I click on «Save» button, it resets to the initial state. I'm using 3.520 version in AL 11.2.10 on MBP 13", macOS Monterey 12.6.3
3. Is it possible to make the interface of DUNE resizable? Because if I'm using it on my 13" screen on «Default size» → I can't reach the bottom of MSEG, LFO's and couldn't see the «corners» of the keyboard. But this problem disappears if I switch to «Small» and a new problem appears — the interface becomes too small and thus I have to strain my eys

Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3Hi,
welcome to the forum! 1. Actually you can use the presets for your music This applies both to the presets as they are, as well as any derivatives. Whether the presets are made with Genetics or were made by simply changing some sound parameters does not matter. What you cannot do is sell such presets. 2. This issue I could not reproduce on my MBP. Created a bunch of patches then applied Genetics to those patches a few times, and got yet new patches as expected. 3. We'll consider it for sure. The pre-rendered skins load/render faster than scaled images, however, need far less memory and are slightly more precise. This is why we used this concept originally. Of course computers always gain in memory & CPU performance over time, so the benefits may ultimately become too small to justify this. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Thanks for the answer, Richard! 1. So if I want to sell patches in the future I need to make them from scratch step by step, right? But I may use the basic structure of pre-made patches, learn how they are built, etc, and then I can implement it in my own work, correct? 2. I can provide you with more details, and information, whatever you what — just tell me what should I do 3. Okay, I see! The only solution right now is to use the small size of the skin?
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Wow! Thank you, Christophe. The skin looks majestic But unfortunately by now I do not have access to major payment systems such as Visa or MC – they don't work in the region I was born and lived almost my entire life. Perhaps in the future times will change and I'll have a chance to buy it
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Yes correct
Ok great, step-by-step instructions may help (in case we missed something), or a short video demonstrating the issue. Also note the current D3 Mac version is v3.53, probably makes no difference, but just fyi that is what we used to test on our MBP.
I'll check if we can render a skin between Small and Default size. Admin - Synapse Audio Software

Okay then! I'll attach a video in which I'm trying to create more than 1 patch using previously made presets, but I can't for no reason. Btw, I don't know if is it a bug or a feature, but using my notebook's keyboard to play the notes, sometimes leads to a change of an already-made patch just like pressing a «Generate» button again. For example — I have made a patch and trying to play some notes by pressing «A, S, D, F, G, etc» when the «Computer MIDI keyboard» switch is enabled. And somehow pressing any of these buttons lead to a change of current preset — I'll check if we can render a skin between Small and Default size.[/quote] Great! Any news? Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Ah, ok, it looks that the issue happens when you select the "Genetics" folder and show the Genetics content. This is not exactly a bug, but rather the effect of reloading the Genetics patches after "Save". The "Genetics" patches are stored in the "Genetics" folder, so when you are inside this folder and save to it, the list is refreshed, and at the same time the actual state is reset (this does not happen when you're outside "Genetics", because the refresh is not needed then). We will add the re-selection of the files inside "Genetics" after "Save" in the next update.
About the skin render, we think it's possible, but please give as a couple of days more for that.
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Wow! Thanks Btw, the next update will be more like a maintenance build for fixing bugs or something significant as 3.5? Just curious
That's okay, I'm not in a hurry, so I'll wait as much as needed! Thank you again
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Hi, Marc and Richard! Just curious – any news about it?
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3Hi, will post the skin for you within 1-2 days.
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Thank you, Marcin! I'm waiting
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3Please try the following skin mod: https://www.synapse-audio.com/dune/BetDefSm.zip
Hope this will work for you (unzipped into the "Skins/BetDefSm" folder will resist under the "User" skin's submenu).
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3
Thank you so much! Works pretty well, but the «spacing» between lines (screenshot №2) looks a little bit odd But I think in general it's not a big problem As far as I understand it's because of «squeezing » the skin, and if you fill in the space between the red line and the skin line, everything will be okay (see screenshot № 3) But I won't ask to re-render the new skin again, cuz it will be impudence You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: A bunch of questions about DUNE 3Open the file "Configuration.ini" in the skin folder, here you can adjust all details to your liking, set fonts, spacings, etc. Re-rendering bitmaps is not required for this purpose.
