Dune 3 Envelope Time SettingsI'm trying to recreate some patches from another synth that uses Time attributes to its envelope in Dune 3. It's quite tedious doing it by ear and in the end I still can't seem to mimic it. Can anyone tell me how to translate percentage amount in Dune 3 to time?
Re: Dune 3 Envelope Time SettingsYou need to make a translation table by sampling your settings and measuring the result in a wave editor :
It's a bit long but I made it some years ago (I think it is without the vintage setting) You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. Yamaha CS-30, Roland SH-1, Roland MKS70, Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, Yamaha FS1R, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation Remote 37SL, Korg Legacy, Alesis M1Active 520, Novation Launchpad Pro, Push2, Intel i7-7700HQ
Re: Dune 3 Envelope Time SettingsThat's great Christophe!
If you want finer settings then you can take Christophe's numbers and plug them in to ChatGPT to find an equation that fits. You might need to nudge it a bit in the right direction. You then need to rearrange the equation for x (using ChatGPT). The ask ChatGPT to give you the D3 percentage that corresponds to the time value that you want. It will then give you the percentage value for D3. Input the numbers in this format and ChatGPT will pretty much do the rest: {{0, 0.003}, {10, 0.003}, {20, 0.006}, {30, 0.014}, {40, 0.034}, {50, 0.106}, {60, 0.357}, {70, 1.126}, {80, 4.153}, {90, 14.32}, {100, 49}} These values are for the attack and I didn't even use all of what Christophe suggested. So if I want an attack of 2 seconds then I use a value of 74.
Re: Dune 3 Envelope Time SettingsThat's great, thaks so much Christophe! You saved me a lot of trouble and to Mark for the good idea about AI.
I got this. y(x) = 0.003x^1.35 if x ≤ 50 y(x) = 0.357e^(0.01x) if x > 50 I asked gpt to simplify but got confused. Maybe someone can do better ![]() The table should be very useful however, though I'm sure will be confusing having different time values for attack and decay. How about an option in settings to switch to time envelopes?
